Joe and Hunter Biden seen Black Friday shopping amid threats of GOP investigation

Mounting scandals did not prevent President Joe Biden and his son Hunter from enjoying a family outing on Black Friday, shopping carefree in Nantucket despite House Republicans prepping an investigation into the family’s business dealings overseas.

The president, who just turned 80, visited a number of small businesses on the elitist Massachusetts island with his scandal-plagued son Hunter, 52. That followed Biden Sr. eating lunch at the ironically named restaurant called Brotherhood of Thieves, according to pool reports.

First lady Jill Biden, their daughter Ashley Biden, Hunter Biden’s wife Melissa Cohen, and Biden’s grandson Beau joined the outing. The first family also visited Craftmasters of Nantucket and then attended the island’s annual Christmas tree lighting festival. Hunter Biden joined his father to greet attendees.

Private-equity billionaire David Rubenstein is hosting the Bidens while they are on the island, according to the New York Post. He also had the Bidens stay at his $20 million compound last Thanksgiving.

Hunter Biden has been frequenting the White House in the lead-up to Republicans retaking control of the House. They have vowed to launch an investigation into his overseas business dealings and they plan to unearth the president’s involvement as well. Hunter also attended the pardoning of the turkeys just days after his oldest child, Naomi Biden, was married on the South Lawn of the White House.

Allegations are flying that the president has been involved to one degree or another in his son’s questionable overseas business dealings, especially in China and Ukraine.

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee, announced at a press conference that his panel will use its power to subpoena testimony and evidence to “evaluate whether this president is compromised or swayed by foreign dollars.”

“This is an investigation of Joe Biden,” Comer proclaimed.

Currently, Hunter Biden is under federal investigation for potential tax fraud. Hollywood attorney Kevin Morris just recently forked over $2 million to the IRS on Hunter Biden’s behalf, according to the New York Post. It is unclear how much more if any, the first son owes and it does not preclude him from criminal prosecution.

The FBI is also looking into Hunter Biden concerning possible money laundering, illegal foreign lobbying, and lying about his drug use on a gun-purchase form. Attorney General Merrick Garland has yet to appoint a special counsel in the matter. He has, however, named a special counsel to oversee a pair of spurious investigations into former President Trump.

President Biden has repeatedly claimed that he “never” spoke to Hunter about his foreign dealings. Republicans do not believe that assertion and suspect he was involved in Chinese ventures involving his son and his brother Jim Biden. There are allegations father and son conspired in pay-to-play business dealings that allegedly traded access to the White House in exchange for enormous personal wealth for the Biden family.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called President Biden “the Godfather” of the Biden business empire and urged Republicans to pursue him, not just Hunter.

“It’s not about the poor schlub who got caught. It’s about the boss,” Cruz stated in an episode of his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz.”

“It’s about the big guy. It’s about the Godfather, Joe Biden is the Godfather. He is the one who ultimately is profiting on this corruption,” Cruz said.

“He is the one who is abusing official authority to further the criminal activity of his family members. And that’s why this is an issue of public corruption,” he added. “The focus needs to be on Joe Biden, this is not about Hunter Biden.”

“And now when he’s president of the United States, personally enriching himself enriching his family by selling official favors to enemies, hostile foreign governments — that is an issue of highest importance,” the Texas firebrand asserted.
