Trump lives on in Pelosi’s head, classless all the way to the end

Republicans may have underperformed in disappointing midterm elections that were predicted to be a “red wave” but their razor-thin House majority comes with the major victory of prying the speaker’s gavel from the clutches of Nancy Pelosi, and the octogenarian Democrat was the epitome of classlessness during her speech announcing that she is retiring from leadership.

On Thursday, Pelosi officially passed the baton to a younger generation of leftists in a speech that was dripping with sanctimony and spitefulness as an era marked by raw partisanship, endless investigations and the silly political stunts that were her trademark came to a close with the California Democrat stepping down at the apex of her power.

“There is no greater official honor for me than to stand on this floor and to speak for the people of San Francisco,” she said. “This I will continue to do as a member of the House, speaking for the people of San Francisco, serving the great state of California and defending our Constitution. And with great confidence in our caucus, I will not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress.”

During her self-serving address, Madame Speaker snubbed former President Donald J. Trump, a man whom she clearly despises but failed to take down with two failed impeachments and her January 6 committee’s public hearings that fell flat with the American people.

“I have enjoyed working with three presidents, achieving historic investments in clean energy with President George Bush; transformative health care reform with President Barack Obama, and forging the future — from infrastructure to health care to climate action — with President Joe Biden,” a chuckling Pelosi said, not bothering to mention the name of her hated nemesis among the presidents whom she has served with during her two decades in leadership as Democrat lawmakers all applauded in a scene reminiscent of the old Soviet Politburo.

At another point in Pelosi’s speech, she again touted herself as a devout Catholic despite her being an outspoken champion of abortion that puts her in opposition to church doctrine, a stance that led to her being banned from Holy Communion for the “grave evil she is perpetrating” by the Archbishop of her hometown of San Francisco earlier this year, a move that infuriated Democrats.

Pelosi’s fellow Democrats slobbered all over her on Twitter including top lieutenant Adam Schiff who likened her to legendary boxer Muhammad Ali aka “The Greatest” in one of the gross exaggerations that the California Democrat is known for.

“After her beautiful speech, I told Nancy Pelosi that she reminded me of boxing legend Muhammad Ali because she is the greatest that ever was,” the shifty congressman tweeted. “She’s also a dear friend and mentor. Her constituents and our state are blessed to be represented by such a remarkable leader.”

Others weren’t as impressed.

Republican Kevin McCarthy, who will replace Pelosi as Speaker of the House had his own take on why the crooked old crone chose to step down now with Dems still in control during the remainder of the lame-duck session.

Many consider Pelosi’s likely replacement will be New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, a man who is even more openly partisan than she is.
