Jesse Watters to Chuck Schumer: ‘Why do we have to bring in foreigners to have the babies we won’t have?’

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) set off a firestorm of criticism when he stood before the cameras on Wednesday and declared that Congress must create a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants because Americans are not procreating at a sufficient rate — this declaration ignoring the reality that there are nearly a million babies aborted every year.

Schumer’s take conveniently follows two years of a wide-open southern border as a result of Democratic policy, where more than 5 million illegal immigrants have crossed into the U.S.

The politically-motivated idea was a top of the discussion on Fox News’s “The Five,” with co-host Jesse Watters offering the issue the simplest solution — have more babies to placate the Democrat’s sudden concern about the population replacement rate.

“If Americans aren’t having babies, why can’t we just have more babies?” Watters asked. “Why do we have to bring in foreigners to have the babies we won’t have? Maybe we just get off our iPhones and dim the lights?”

For Watters, he is doing his part with three children.

With Democrats controlling Congress through the lame duck period leading up to January 3, 2023, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi announcing on Thursday the end of her reign as leader of the Democratic Party, co-host Jeanine Pirro queried about the possibility of Democrats forcing through amnesty legislation.

“Chuck Schumer is the majority leader in the Senate, they have the House right now and they’ve got the Oval,” she said, “do you think they can move fast enough in — before the election — so that they’ve got them in legal and ready to vote in 2024?”

“Lame duck that amnesty? I don’t think they can pull it off,” Watters said. “But they had both chambers under Barack Obama. They had both chambers under Joe Biden. Why didn’t they do immigration reform then?”

He then answered his own question by suggesting that Schumer and Co. will use the issue in the new Congress to try to cut into the growing support Republicans are enjoying among Hispanic voters.

“The minute Republicans take the House – then they want to do amnesty? What does that tell you? It tells you they don’t want to solve the problem. They want to campaign on the problem and they want to paint Republicans as anti-Hispanic,” Watters said.
