Elise Stefanik explains why she’s ‘proud’ to endorse Trump for 2024, calls for unity in Republican Party

While many Republicans are pointing fingers and questioning the future of the GOP after Tuesday’s disappointing midterm results, House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has made her stance perfectly clear: She’s proudly endorsing former President Donald Trump as he attempts to recapture the White House in 2024.

“I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024,” she said in a statement to The New York Times on Wednesday. “It is time for Republicans to unite around the most popular Republican in America who has a proven track record of conservative governance.”

While Trump hasn’t officially announced his candidacy — that is expected to happen next week — he has repeatedly teased his intention to do so at recent rallies.

As BizPac Review reported, 45 expects to make his “special announcement” during a prime-time event on Tuesday, from the comfort of Mar-a-Lago.

But not everyone is thrilled with his timing.

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade stated that Trump needs to wait and “be quiet,” lest his announcement take attention — and, potentially, voters — away from Georgia Senatorial candidate Herschel Walker, whose runoff with incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock could very well determine which party will control the Senate.

The host also blasted Trump for his recent jabs at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, whose Tuesday victory and strong leadership have many looking to him to lead the Republican Party.

For Stefanik, however, the choice is clear, and it isn’t DeSantis.

In an exclusive statement to Breitbart News, Stefanik said it’s the voters who pick the GOP leader, and the voters have spoken.

“Republican voters determine who is the leader of the Republican Party and it’s very clear President Trump is the leader of the Republican party,” she said. “What the media fails to report is that we just won the midterms and flipped the House.”

Well, we think we’ve flipped the House. As of this writing, the House has not been officially called for either party, though most projections show Republicans will win control.

Either way, Stefanik’s endorsement marks the first for Trump from House or Senate leadership.

Her reasoning is simple: Trump’s got a great track record.

“I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for President in 2024. I fully support him running again,” she said. “Under his presidency, America was strong at home and abroad, our economy was red hot, our border was secure, our neighborhoods were safe, our law enforcement was respected, and our enemies feared us.”

“We cannot afford another four years of Joe Biden’s failed policies that have led to the inflation crisis, border crisis, and crime crisis,” she continued. “It is time for Republicans to unite around the most popular Republican in America, who has a proven track record of conservative governance.”

“Poll after poll shows that President Trump would defeat any Republican challenger by massive margins, and would beat Joe Biden if the election were held today,” Stefanik stated. “President Trump has always put America First, and I look forward to supporting him so we can save America.”
