‘LA is a hot mess’: Leftists lose it when Katy Perry joins growing list of fed-up celebs voting for Rick Caruso

Singer Katy Perry has received major backlash after posting a since-deleted picture of herself on Instagram casting her vote for Los Angeles mayoral hopeful, billionaire Rick Caruso, and she is far from alone in supporting the political newcomer.

The picture surfaced just a few hours after she tweeted out a video in support of abortion rights and Roe vs. Wade. Some of her fans were incensed because Caruso has allegedly donated to anti-abortion organizations and politicians in the past, according to PinkNews.

“I am voting for a myriad of reasons but in particular because Los Angeles is a hot mess atm,” she wrote on social media.

In May, she stated during an interview, “I’m like, living in Kentucky and I have for almost a month now. And that’s quite an amazing experience. Because it reminds you that Hollywood is not America.”

It looks like Perry took some of that sentiment back to Los Angeles with her.

Caruso is a billionaire and a devout Catholic. He used to be a Republican and then switched his voter registration from Independent to Democrat in January of this year just before announcing he would be running for mayor of Los Angeles. He is running against US Representative Karen Bass.

He is a real estate developer who previously served as commissioner of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power under Mayor Tom Bradley in 1985. The mayoral candidate has also served as president of the LA Board of Police Commissioners.

Perry is joined by the likes of actor Chris Pratt who has thrown his support behind Caruso as well. He also announced his support of Caruso on Instagram.

“I’ve lived in LA for over 20 years. It’s been great to me,” Pratt wrote on Sunday. “In that time I’ve seen what many residents here have seen, the city’s gradual decline into pain and utter disarray. If you live here, you know exactly what I’m talking about. I don’t normally support political candidates. But in this election, there’s too much to lose.”

“If you’re an LA voter, I urge you to vote for @rickcarusola. He’s a builder. He knows how to get s*** done. He’s the guy for our city. Rick Caruso for LA mayor,” he added.

Also standing behind Caruso are rapper Snoop Dogg, reality star Kim Kardashian, and Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow, not to mention Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

Snoop Dogg is steadfast in his endorsement of Caruso, stating during a news clip earlier this year, “I endorse the real, and that is real.”

Paltrow has strongly praised Caruso, asserting that he is a “man of integrity and great character” who has “the strength to solve some really tough problems.”

Bass also has her fair share of support from Tinsel Town.

Celebrities who have endorsed her include filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Grammy award-winning singer John Legend, “Machete” actor Danny Trejo, and former President Barack Obama.

Caruso has spared no expense in attempting to get elected. According to Newsweek, he has dumped $80 million of his own fortune into the race. Bass, meanwhile, has raised around $6 million as of September.

Fans did not cut Perry a break even though she is among a number of celebrities supporting Caruso. She was thrashed on social media by rabid leftists for voting for him:
