In what seems to be an example of way too much information, A-list actor Mathew McConaughey disclosed some alleged intimate details about the circumstances surrounding his father’s death that constitute the opposite of a cover-up.
During an appearance, appropriately enough, on the podcast called “WTF with Marc Maron,” the would-be Texas governor apparently concluded that it was a good idea to share with the world an anecdote about the family jewels.
“I found out later that when the ambulance came to get him at the house, obviously all the neighbors came out on the street,” he told the podcast host, the New York Post reported. “And they came and told me later that my mum, in her negligee nightie that she had woken up in, wouldn’t let the paramedics cover him. She kept ripping the sheet off going: ‘Uh-uh, I want the world to see why his nickname was Big Jim, don’t you cover him.'”
It’s puzzling why he decided to overshare the raunchy revelation about his papa’s penis, but high-profile or publicity-seeking artists tend to make their own rules of decorum.
According to McConaughey, moreover, Big Jim repeatedly predicted that he would eventually die while getting busy with his spouse, Matthew’s mom.
“He’d always told me and my brothers, ‘Boys, when I go, I’m gonna be makin’ love to your mother.’ And that’s what happened. He had a heart attack when he climaxed,” McConaughey wrote in his 2020 memoir which was titled “Greenlights.”
In the same book, the movie star wrote, “I got a call from my mum: ‘Your dad died.’ My knees buckled, I couldn’t believe it. He was my dad. Nobody or nothing could kill him. Except for mom.”
McConaughey lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and three kids. He has 75 acting credits on IMDB and won an Oscar for his lead role in “Dallas Buyers Club.”
The charismatic performer is perhaps best known these days for supporting roles in “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Interstellar” as well as starring in the first season of HBO’s “True Detective.”
He was born in the Texas city of Uvalde, which was the site of the horrific mass shooting at Robb Elementary School on May 24.

McConaughey, who has publicly disapproved of the cancel culture and other left-wing excesses, has positioned himself as a political centrist, particularly as it relates to gun control-related issues, and a foe of extremism.
Whether he will eventually leverage his celebrity status to actually enter politics, rather than float the idea, remains to be seen.
It’s often said that, for whatever reason, once they reach a certain level of prominence, actors want to be politicians and politicians want to be actors (and obviously there is a lot of overlap there), while musicians want to be athletes and vice versa.
Turning 53 last Friday, McConaughey has quite a few years left as a Hollywood leading man if he wants it, and after that, unlimited lucrative runway as a supporting actor, with minimal heavy lifting required.
Even with what seems to be a purposeful, carefully crafted middle-of-the-road image, is it worth giving up various cushy gigs to seek elected office?
With an estimated net worth of $160 million, McConaughey has experienced so much career success that he himself need not worry about being canceled for distancing himself, even slightly, from the progressive dictates of the entertainment industry.
