Elon Musk is having fun trolling twits about $8 a month blue check fee – and not just AOC

Billionaire Elon Musk is having a ball with Twitter blue checks who are having a rough time processing the changes at the San Francisco-based social media giant since he officially took ownership of the company last Thursday.

Most galling to the verified users is that the new “Chief Twit” plans to begin charging them a nominal $8 per month to continue enjoying their special privilege, a fee that has drawn criticism from the likes of Democratic Party thought leader Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and schlockmeister Stephen King, both of whom balked at being charged an amount they could easily afford.

Others have also whined about Musk’s revamp of the platform which, according to Bloomberg, could go live by Monday,  and the man who has shaken the left to its roots in only a week toyed with their emotions by posting his witty responses to their griping.

One whining blue check, CNN contributor Frida Ghitis reacted to a Musk tweet touting Twitter as the “most interesting place on the internet” with bitterness and entitlement.

“That’s why it’s so sad watching you play with it like it’s a toy and you’re a child,” she wrote.

“$8” Musk shot back with his short but sweet retort.

Musk clapped back at AOC who decried the charge as an affront to free speech.

“Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8,” he wrote in a seven-word reply that did the unthinkable by leaving the socialist diva speechless.

He also trolled the New York City congresswoman with a screenshot of a piece of overpriced swag from her online store, a $58 periwinkle sweatshirt.

Turning to memes that drive the progs to fits of fury to make his point, Musk remarked on the priorities of the Starbucks latte-slurping crowd who have no problem shelling out $8 a pop for the virtue-signaling coffee chain’s drinks.

Musk also retweeted an observation that what really rankles the “entitled elite” is that they may soon have to share their exalted blue check status with anyone willing to pony up the 8 bucks a month.

 

On Tuesday, Musk blasted the current system, “Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullsh*t. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month.”

Asked for her comment on whether President Biden would be willing to pay the $8 to keep his own blue check, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was noncommittal.

Musk, who has already fired top management, is reportedly about to jettison around 3,700 Twitter employees along with eliminating the company’s work-from-anywhere policy, something that is going to send those who have been pampered with gourmet meals and lavish amenities during their employment scrambling to find a nice stuffed animal to cuddle in their crying rooms.

According to Bloomberg, “Twitter’s new owner aims to inform affected staffers Friday, said the people, who requested anonymity discussing non-public plans. Musk also intends to reverse the company’s existing work-from-anywhere policy, asking remaining employees to report to offices — though some exceptions could be made, the people said.”

“Musk and a team of advisers have been weighing a range of scenarios for job cuts and other policy changes at San Francisco-based Twitter, the people said, adding that the terms of the headcount reduction could still change. In one scenario being considered, laid off workers will be offered 60 days’ worth of severance pay, two of the people said,” the outlet reported.
