‘Grandma Karen’ caught stealing GOP yard signs thinks it’s justified because she’s fighting ‘fascists’

Scott Davison, a conservative candidate for the school board in Carlsbad, California, had a supporter confront a “Grandma Karen” whom he caught brazenly stealing Republican signs, justifying it by calling them “fascists.”

Davison and other Republican candidates have been complaining that opponents and/or their supporters have been taking their yard signs, according to RedState.

It is almost commonplace for Democrats to be accused of stealing signs across the nation. It acts as yet another form of censorship during election season. Ironically, in order to protect their own signs, one Democrat booby-trapped three of them with razor blades to prevent them from being taken in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Davison is claiming that stealing signs in his school board race has become endemic. Considering that Democrats thoroughly expect to get beaten in upcoming elections, it would hardly be surprising that they would stoop that low.

One of Davison’s supporters happened to be driving around and spotted a “Grandma Karen” with a big bag, happily stealing the property of Republicans she despises. The elderly social justice warrior got videoed committing open theft in broad daylight as if she didn’t have a care in the world. The Carlsbad candidate was given the footage and he posted it on Twitter Monday.

The woman is carrying a giant tote bag over her shoulder. It was just the right shape for storing yard signs and appeared to have one that was partially visible. She did not deny that she was taking the signs, she merely justified it.

The driver asks her from his car why she is removing Republican signs. Specifically why she took one from the yard of a Brian Maryott supporter. Maryott is a Republican congressional candidate. Davison also contends his signs have been taken.

“Because these people are fascists,” the woman replied basically admitting that she was removing the signs.

The driver continued to put her on the spot, “I just saw you take the Maryott sign down.”

“Do you want it?” she bitterly asked.

“No, I don’t think you should be doing that. That’s theft, first of all,” he pointed out.

“It’s on public land!” Grandma Karen insisted, making a less-than-cogent argument for stealing.

Political signs are paid for by the campaigns of candidates. They are considered property and taking them is viewed as theft and/or the destruction of property under the law. You can’t justify stealing a sign simply because you don’t agree with someone politically. A judge would laugh at that defense and then put you behind bars.

After the driver asked her why she only took Republican signs and left the Democrat ones, she replied, “I took some other signs!”

Not a great defense and again, it is one that would get her arrested.

She appears to admit on video that she hates Republicans and that she stole the other missing signs as well. A high IQ is not a prerequisite for theft it would seem.

Davison is not surprised by any of this and contends that his opponent’s supporters have smeared him as a “liar, bigot, bully, and anti-LGBTQ+.” After they demonized him, these brain trusts evidently feel justified in any kind of behavior committed in the name of “justice.”

The candidate filed a police report with the Oceanside Police Department. His campaign is working to try and identify the sign thief without many leads. But they are getting close according to Davison.
