Oil baron J. Paul Getty heiress, granddaughter funds climate extremists creating havoc all around

The granddaughter of oil baron J. Paul Getty is reportedly funding environmental activists who have been engaging in road blockages, vandalism, and other forms of disruptions, primarily in the U.K.

Climate alarmist and philanthropist Aileen Getty, 65, is a founding member of the nonprofit Climate Emergency Fund, which, in turn, has reportedly bankrolled a global network of anti-fossil-fuel organizations such as Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil.

Perhaps consistent with the definition of the guilty, privileged rich liberal, the Big Oil beneficiary has reportedly donated $1 million to the Los Angeles-based CEF, which, in turn, allegedly hands out cash to these other groups.

Patriarch J. Paul Getty founded the Getty Oil Company in 1942 and, as a result, became one of the richest men in the world in the 1950s and 1960s. The Getty family, which is no longer in the oil industry, currently has an estimated net worth in the range of $5 to $6 billion.

The Climate Emergency Fund website lists Aileen Getty as a member of its board of its directors as well as a founding donor. “Boosted by Getty’s initial and continued contributions, CEF has awarded millions of dollars to radical groups that have engaged in disruptive protests worldwide,” Fox News reported earlier this month.

The heiress, whom the Daily Mail on Sunday described as “something of an aging hippy chick,” told the news outlet that “‘I support climate activism through the Climate Emergency Fund because we are out of time for anything other than rapid, comprehensive climate action. We can have a fossil fuel-powered economy, or we can have thriving life on planet Earth. We can’t have both.”

She has also claimed that a climate emergency is in effect because “we are literally killing life on Earth.” History, so far, has shown that many of these doom-and-gloom predictions have yet to materialize.

Literally is usually a tell for just the opposite, but that’s a side note.

While individuals can do what they want with their money, the Daily Mail noted the incongruity that is in play, given the source of the Getty family fortune, and expenditures by his granddaughter for which J. Paul himself would probably not be supportive.

“How ironic, then, to discover that one of the most prominent backers of this rag-tag assortment of eco-zealots who think gluing themselves to walls aids their anti-fossil fuel cause, is a woman whose funding clout possibly runs deeper than, well, an oil well.”

The news outlet asserted that the massive Getty family wealth “grew from the very industry activists are so keen to bring to its knees.”

With that in mind, at the present time, society obviously can’t function by going cold turkey with renewables.

While “eco-zealots,” among other things, often prevent ordinary, hard-working people from driving to their place of employment, there is no indication, moreover, that trust-funded, virtue-signaling limousine liberals, in general, have any intention of adopting a minimalist lifestyle.

On social media, the Climate Emergency Fund sought to create an alibi of sorts for Aileen Getty.

To some degree, Aileen Getty tried to distance herself from the protesters, while seemingly endorsing their tactics.

“I do not fund these groups or their actions directly, though I am in full support of Just Stop Oil’s critical demand of no new oil and gas leases,” she told the Daily Mail. “If you accept that we are facing a widespread climate disaster, then civil disobedience does not seem so crazy and extreme. Any discomfort caused by the protests we are seeing — which have been peaceful and non- violent — pales in comparison with what awaits us all if we fail to act on climate.”
