Squad member got $50,000 advance for book that only sold 729 copies its first week

Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) who has pushed socialist policies, cop-hatred, and Black Lives Matter while also being a member of the progressive Squad, released her new book this month and it landed with an audible thud, only selling 729 copies in its first week.

The number of books sold was reported by the industry tracker NPD BookScan.

“The Forerunner: A Story of Pain and Perseverance in America,” was released by Knopf on Oct. 4. Bush was paid by the publisher an advance of at least $50,000, according to her financial disclosure reports.

It gets even worse for Bush. In the second week, she only sold 288 books, according to the New York Post.

The book was hyped all over the place by leftists as a political memoir that details Bush’s history as a minimum-wage worker, a survivor of sexual violence, and a Black Lives Matter activist. It also reportedly gets into her extensive hatred for police officers, accusing them of abuse.

It received fawning reviews by leftist media outlets such as New York Magazine and Forbes Women. It also featured gushing testimonials from Whoopi Goldberg, Margaret Hoover, and Joy Reid.

Bush even got to plug her book on “The View” and “The Daily Show” on the day of its release, and it still face-planted.

“When I wasn’t in Ferguson [MO.], I would still see armored vehicles, even when they were not there. At random moments in the day, I would smell tear gas, even when none had been sprayed,” she wrote in the book.

She ridiculously asserts that taking part in the Black Lives Matter protests gave her PTSD.

Industry insiders branded the book launch “mediocre” and pointed out that Knopf was “unlikely” to recoup their investment.

“It’s not the book. It’s just there’s a lack of interest in her. She just hasn’t built a strong enough brand to sell books yet,” one progressive who’s worked with Bush said, justifying the abysmal sales.

More to the point… they just don’t like Cori Bush.

Not having a strong enough brand is debatable considering how Bush has stood alongside Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) pushing radical issues such as defunding the police and abandoning US support for Israel.

Leftists just don’t seem to be into Cori Bush.
