DOJ prosecutors say they have enough evidence to charge Trump with obstruction, indictment remains in doubt

Department of Justice prosecutors are claiming they think they have enough evidence to charge former President Trump with obstruction of justice, but railroading him into an indictment is in severe doubt according to a report.

Bloomberg is citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter asserting they believe “there is sufficient evidence” to nail Trump over obstruction of justice. The DOJ, however, “has not made a formal recommendation” to Attorney General Merrick Garland. The whole “unnamed sources” angle severely damages the credibility of the claim and reeks more of leftist wishful thinking than actionable charges.

“The path to an actual indictment is far from clear,” the report goes on to contend.

“In addition, while some Federal Bureau of Investigation agents oppose bringing such a politically charged case as Trump considers a 2024 presidential bid, others support action, said the people, who asked for anonymity to discuss information not yet public. Agents, however, don’t make the final decisions,” Bloomberg reported.

The warrant used by FBI agents to raid Mar-a-Lago indicated the former president is being investigated for obstruction of justice, removal or destruction of records, and violations of the Espionage Act. All of that is legal fluff unless authorities can actually prove something which so far, they are coming up short on as usual.

If there are actual charges against Trump, they are unlikely to be revealed or publicly filed before the midterms. Probably not even before Christmas, the sources claim.

“Of all the things Trump is being investigated for around the country, obstruction of justice is a slam dunk and I think he’s going to be indicted,” Frank Figliuzzi, who is the former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence, reportedly told Bloomberg. “I don’t see why a charge of obstruction of justice couldn’t be filed by the end of the year.”

If that should happen, it could well enrage conservatives considering just about every sitting president has declassified documents when leaving office for their presidential libraries. It wouldn’t go over well and would be a very bad move on the part of Democrats.

Trump returned 15 boxes of documents to the National Archives in January and had been cooperating and working with the DOJ on others before the thuggish raid by the FBI took place in August. They seized in excess of 11,000 documents and claim that over 100 had classified markings.

Agents violated the Trump family’s personal spaces including Melania Trump’s closet and their son, Barron’s room. Personal documents and mementos were also taken, including passports.

US Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar said the FBI found evidence “that efforts had likely been undertaken to obstruct the investigation” in an Oct. 11 brief, according to the Daily Mail.

The New York Times asserted last week that a longtime Trump aide was caught on video moving boxes filled with documents from a storage room at Mar-a-Lago. As dire as the leftist propaganda outlet makes that sound, that is not illegal and they have no idea what was contained in those boxes.

A Trump spokesperson is charging that the Biden administration has “weaponized law enforcement” and claimed Trump had broad discretion over the documents at Mar-a-Lago.

“Every other President has been given time and deference regarding the administration of documents, as the President has the ultimate authority to categorize records, and what materials should be classified,” Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich told the Washington Post via a statement.

Budowich justifiably accused the DOJ of leaking “misleading and false information” to the media.
