NBC tries to rationalize Biden’s unpopularity, faults poor communications not policy failures

NBC contributor Maria Teresa Kumar appeared on Sunday’s “Meet The Press” and attempted to rationalize the far-reaching unpopularity of President Joe Biden by laughably asserting that it’s just the result of the president ineffectively communicating his message, not a matter of the regime’s cataclysmic policies.

The president of the leftist political advocacy group Voto Latino joined the panel on host Chuck Todd’s congenitally low-rated show where she revisited the tired motif of poor messaging, which in the world of Democrats simply means it’s time to split tens and then double down on the policy once again.

Before comparing Biden to former President Trump, which no left-wing pundit can refrain from doing for more than two minutes at a time, Kumar asserted, “[Biden’s] challenge is that he hasn’t been able to communicate to the American people what he’s done.”

“The difference between Donald Trump and the difference with Biden, is Biden is a policy President so he’s going to make fundamental changes for a generation,” to which she laughably added, “And we’re talking about student loan relief, we’re talking about bringing back manufacturing and the list goes on.”

“But the difference with Trump is that his consequence is not policy, it’s his legacy of undermining elections,” she whined. “Not just him, but he actually has a cadre of individuals right now seeking office that are election deniers. And that legacy is far more dangerous for a modern-day president. He believes in undermining our democracy.”

Haven’t heard that one in a while …

Co-panelist and former North Carolina Republican governor Pat McCrory retorted, “Biden can’t go on TV because 401ks are down 20-25 percent because of the price of eggs is more than we ever paid in our lifetime. Because gas is going up. The Democrats don’t want Biden around.”

Chuck Todd excitedly interjected that “Democrats do want one Democratic president campaigning for them, it’s the former Democratic president who we’re going to see a lot of I think in the last three weeks,” referring obviously to Barack Obama, whose potential ringing endorsement of Biden would be inconsistent with his past comments, namely his warning while in office: “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f**k things up.”

And the polls agree. Biden’s approval numbers have been consistently low for most of his disastrous presidency, setting records in some cases.

“Biden has faced a number of challenges as president, and Americans have generally graded his work poorly for the past year, with his average approval rating as president now at 46%. Currently, his public support is the lowest it has been to date,” Gallup’s Jeffrey Jones noted in July.

“Democrats were already facing a tough environment in this fall’s midterms as they seek to retain their narrow majorities in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. Biden’s now weaker approval makes their odds of doing so even steeper,” he predicted.

“During this time, an average of 40% of Americans approved of the job he was doing as president. No president elected to his first term has had a lower sixth-quarter average than Biden, although Jimmy Carter’s and Donald Trump’s ratings were only slightly better, at 42%. Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Ronald Reagan also averaged below majority approval,” Gallup wrote.

In addition to surges in COVID cases that eclipsed those under Trump, “[Biden’s] public support has eroded after the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, the highest inflation in four decades, record-high gas prices, and continuing supply chain issues,” Jones noted.

It’s questionable how any amount of redesigned messaging could fix any of that. But oh, how the Left will try.
