Herschel Walker’s campaign hits pay dirt after hit piece dominates the news cycle

Conservatives owe a great big “thank you” to the leftist media. T

he Daily Beast story on Herschel Walker that they have been pumping on network news and in newspapers since Monday seems to be backfiring. The football-star-turned-politician had a record-breaking day of fundraising after the story broke, raising $182,000 in 24 hours.

The hit piece that set mainstream commentators loose on the black candidate went like this: Walker is running on a pro-life platform, but his girlfriend had an abortion in 2009 and he paid for it; she has a record of his personal check for $700, along with a get-well card.

Is the accuser on the level? How far did the Daily Beast go to find contrary information? Walker’s lawyer told them it was a “false story.” Did they look for any signs that this anonymous girlfriend was lying? A better question might be this: did newsmakers put her up to this in the first place?

The leftist website updated its story on Tuesday, quoting the candidate as saying the accusation was a “flat-out lie” and that he denied it in the “strongest possible terms.”

They also included this quote from Walker’s statement: “I’m not taking this anymore. I [am] planning to sue the Daily Beast for this defamatory lie. It will be filed tomorrow morning,” he said.

On the night the story came out, the Georgia Republican was interviewed by Fox News host Sean Hannity, during which $50,000 of the record-breaking haul was collected.

“It is a flat-out lie. And now you know how important this seat is. This seat is very important, and they’ll do anything to win this seat – lie – because they want to make it about everything else except what the true problems that we have in this country is. Inflation, the border wide open, crime. They don’t want to talk about that, so they’re making up lies now, because they need this Georgia seat. I encourage anyone out there, let’s not let them take this seat. If you can go to teamherschel.com, let’s not let them take this seat. Because if they take this seat, we won’t recognize this country tomorrow. For them to come out with total lies, that’s not right.”

From a logistical standpoint, the story is suspicious. The abortion cost $575, while the check was for $700. The woman reportedly told The Daily Beast that there was a $125 difference because she ‘ball-parked’ the cost of an abortion after Googling the procedure and added on expenses such as travel and recovery costs.

Clearly, the check could have been for anything, but we’re supposed to assume she isn’t a tool.

I send money to a lot of people,” Walker told Hannity. That’s what’s so funny. My park. I do scholarships for kids, always helping me. I believe in being generous. God blessed me. I want to be generous.”

Millions of voters have learned to be suspicious of stories like this. The Right Scoop sums up the thoughts of millions of Americans:

“Nobody believes it’s true! It’s just another anonymously-sourced piece by some leftist designed, not to inform, but to hurt Herschel Walker.”

Considering the fallacious accusers of the past, Anita Hill and Christine Blasey Ford, to name just two, conservatives have their antennae up for false witnesses and biased reporting. They aren’t going to let the media issue a stay-at-home order on Nov 8. In fact, this could boost turnout quite handily.

Self-awareness would serve the leftist media well, but there is no danger of that happening. The kings and queens of hypocrisy love to hurl accusations of their own behavior at people who have a traditional view of government and civics, only to be smacked down when their claims prove to be unsubstantiated yet again.

During the record-breaking day of fundraising, former President Donald Trump made a statement that might well have played a role in the outpouring of support.

Twitter users on the Left are hurling insults, of course. This isn’t projection or anything:

Neither is this:

Not smart people, to be sure.

It’s not complicated. Republicans are growing immune to the 11th-hour dirty tricks that Dems have reliably pulled whenever possible. They tried to get George W. Bush on a DUI story. They tried to get Trump on an “Access Hollywood” video. But Republicans have an alternative to the truly radical Raphael Warnock, and there is every indication they are not going to be daunted by this news.

Why are GOP voters in Georgia staying on Walker’s side? Why are conservatives from coast to coast contributing to his campaign? One Twitter user sums it up nicely.
