Don Lemon asks if Herschel Walker hits are his ‘grab ’em by the p…’ moment

CNN host Don Lemon, whom former President Trump memorably once described as the dumbest man on television, is comparing Herschel Walker’s current woes to candidate Trump’s “Access Hollywood” locker-room-talk controversy.

Former college and professional football star Walker, who is running for U.S. Senate as the GOP’s Georgia standard-bearer, has denied a conveniently timed Daily Beast report that he paid for a woman’s abortion 13 years ago, and has vowed to sue the publication for defamation.

New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman is making the media rounds promoting a gossipy new book about Trump, and Lemon took that opportunity to ask her about the Walker scandal.

Haberman told Lemon that during an interview for the book, Trump supposedly acknowledged Walker’s “complicated personal history,” and then implied that societal standards have changed over the years.

In the video clip embedded above, Haberman seemed to agree with Lemon’s contention that Trump was setting forth an “Access Hollywood” defense for his friend.

Parenthetically, in his freewheeling style, Trump has disavowed Haberman’s book, even though he reportedly sat for several interviews.

“I think that Trump looks at everything as if ‘I survived,’ I being him. He survived all manner of scandal, in his opinion, he survived all sorts of personal accusations and allegations, and he feels like therefore – he always denied them. We should mention that. And therefore, other people can, too,” Haberman claimed.

Haberman added that Trump is supposedly “infatuated” with Walker because the University of Georgia running back and Heisman Trophy winner played for the Trump-owned New Jersey Generals of the USFL back in the day.

The Times journalist who moonlights as a CNN political analyst insisted the controversy with Walker is different than the scenario with the Trump tape.

“Trump and every other politician are not the same. Trump convinced a wide swath of voters over many decades that he was a very successful tycoon, and they felt bonded to him in a certain way. I don’t know that Walker is at that level with Georgia voters, even with his sports celebrity,” she contended.

Lemon wouldn’t let it go, however, as it were.

“The ‘Access Hollywood’ tape — I wondered if this was a, you know, the ‘grab ’em by about the P moment’ of 2022…we don’t know if it will hurt him.”

Even Lemon acknowledged that while conventional wisdom held that the Trump campaign was “over” because of the leaked audio of the conversation with Billy Bush, Donald Trump went on to win the presidency in 2016.

The Trump-obsessed TV talker is soon to lose his prime-time CNN perch as the host of “Don Lemon Tonight” with the network soon relegating him to a supporting role on the morning shift.
