Political violence targeting conservatives comes on heels of Biden deeming MAGA Republicans a ‘threat’

Conservatives have faced an increasing number of violent attacks ever since President Joe Biden delivered his divisive, hateful speech last month about so-called “MAGA Republicans” and their alleged fanning of the “flames of political violence.”

Just this past Friday, a Detroit man, Richard Harvey, was charged with shooting 84-year-old pro-life canvasser Joan Jacobson outside his home late last month.

“Jacobson was canvassing against a statewide proposal to enshrine abortion rights in Michigan’s constitution. Harvey’s wife, Sharon Harvey, supported the proposed amendment known as Proposal 3. Jacobson [said] that Sharon Harvey became angry during their conversation, yelled at her and told her to leave their property,” according to The Detroit News.

Jacobson complied and began walking away, and the next thing she knew, she’d been shot by Harvey.

“I realized that I saw a man, and the man was standing right beside her. And the next thing I knew, I heard a shot and I felt some pain. I was just stunned. The pain was in my back, and it was very severe,” she recalled to The Detroit News.

Harvey has claimed that he’d been firing warning shots and had accidentally hit the trigger.

“She [Jacobson] is still ranting and raving and she’s got this clipboard. She’s waving it around. I’m thinking she’s going to smack Sharon with it. So without thinking, I went to club it away with the rifle and my finger was still in the trigger guard,” he said.

It’s hard to believe that a 84-year-old pro-life activist was about to smack his wife with a clipboard …

Also around late September, another violent attack occurred in Texas, where two volunteers with Gov. Greg Abbott’s reelection campaign were assaulted by a violent, unhinged man while door-knocking.

The man chased the two volunteers and then ripped the side view mirrors off their car, Abbott’s campaign said in a statement.

“Yesterday, two Texans for Greg Abbott volunteers were assaulted by a man in Humble while they were knocking on doors. The man chased the volunteers through a neighborhood, tried to drag them out of their car, and punched both side view mirrors off of the vehicle,” the statement read.

“The volunteers called police, who responded to the scene. After identifying the suspect, and finding pieces of the vehicle in his trash can, Harris County authorities took the suspect into custody and charged him with criminal mischief.”

Meanwhile, multiple GOP offices have been vandalized within the past month, including the offices of the Larimer County Republican Party in Fort Collins, Colorado, the Ottawa County Republican Party in Hudsonville, Michigan, and the Republican Party of Seminole County in Florida.

“[We] came out and found that all of the signs had been hacked to pieces, our building had been vandalized, our permanent sign on the outside of the building had been torn up,” Ottawa County Republican Party said in a statement afterward, as reported by Grand Rapids station WOOD.

In Seminole County, the office was spray-painted with the words “eat sh-t fascists” and the front door was apparently glued shut.

These attacks come in addition to the vandalism that churches and pregnancy centers have been facing ever since Roe v. Wade was repealed over the summer. According to Fox News, those particular attacks are still ongoing.

“Last week … a pregnancy center in Oakland County, Michigan was vandalized with the message ‘If abortion is not safe neither are you’ which represents the second time this year the building has been targeted with authorities investigating whether the leftist pro-abortion group Jane’s Revenge is linked to the crimes,” Fox News reported Sunday.

The most concerning recent attack involved an 18-year-old being run over and killed, allegedly over political differences.

The suspect, Shannon Brandt, 41, has claimed that he believed the victim, Cayler Ellingson, was a Republican “extremist” who was out to get him.

After the two allegedly verbally feuded at some street dance, Brandt then chase Ellingson with his car, struck him with his it, and then left the scene.

Ellingson was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, sparking outrage from conservatives across the country due to, one, the political factor in general, and two, the media’s lack of interest in a story about an alleged conservative man being murdered over politics.

The last major recent attack occurred when someone blew out the window of New Mexico gubernatorial candidate Mark Ronchetti, a Republican, late last month.

“I got a call from my wife who said someone’s come by and shot out the windows on our garage. So, when you hear that and know the environment we are living in right now, I immediately dropped everything, and we tried to figure out what was going on,” Ronchetti recalled to local station KOAT.

“There were pellets that were sort of all over the place. So clearly, they sprayed across the garage and got themselves a broken window out of it,” he added.

You’d think that, in the face of all this violence, the media would run some in-depth reports or columns even about the Democrat Party’s increasingly divisive, intolerant, and outright hateful rhetoric. But you’d think wrong …
