Jilted bride, beloved newscaster sent heartbreaking texts to ex-boyfriend and sister before suicide

A newscaster left at the altar two months before her wedding sent chilling text messages to family and to the man who jilted her in the moments before she committed suicide, police reports reveal.

Following a two-year relationship plagued by rumors of infidelity, heavy drinking and domestic disputes, Neena Pacholke died by a gunshot to the head on August 27.

“I love you Kyle. I always have and always will,” Pacholke said in a final text to ex-fiance Kyle Haase, according to police reports obtained by the Daily Mail. “Despite how much you ruined me, I always had hope. I’m so sorry to do this to you but I can’t handle any of this pain anymore.”

Haase, who was out of state visiting his children from a previous relationship was driving when he received the message. He called police and asked for a welfare check, providing law enforcement with the former couple’s garage code to expedite entry, texting Pacholke, “The police are there,” followed by a second message a minute later, “If you don’t answer they are going to open the door on their own.”

Police arrived at the home at 11:20 a.m., and, receiving no response from inside, walked the perimeter of the residence. At one point they heard a “clattering from inside” but waited 30 minutes before forcing a door open to gain entry, according to the Daily Mail.

“Officers went into a bedroom where the smell of gunpowder lingered in the air,” the outlet reported. “They found [Pacholke] in a closet leaning against the wall with a firearm laying next to her right hand on the ground. There was also a mark in the wall where the bullet had passed through her skull into the drywall.”

Police removed all firearms from Pacholke’s residence on August 26 after a friend reported concerns, saying the former USF basketball player planned to harm herself.

“On the dresser in the bedroom was a receipt from Zingers and Flingers firearm store where [Pacholke] had bought a 9mm handgun at 10 a.m. that morning, just 90 minutes earlier, together with a box of ammunition for $840,” the Daily Mail reported.

Pacholke’s phone history showed that the 27-year-old Googled suicide methods on August 26 and sent messages to family revealing her pain.

“[Haase] told me he hates me and will feel like a million bucks once I am out of his life,” Pacholke said in a text to her sister, adding that she felt “broken.”

The couple, who met at a funeral in November 2020 while Haase was married, planned to wed on October 12 at the Maya Palace all-inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, but Haase ended the engagement in July.

Haase reportedly kicked Pacholke out of his house and she moved her belongings to a friend’s house before the two reconciled three days later. They then purchased a home together on July 27, one month before her tragic end.

According to reporting by the Daily Mail, Haase showed a friend a nude picture that a former mistress had sent him, complaining about Pacholke.

“Look at her boobs and a**, I wish Neena’s body looked like that,” Haase reportedly said. “I don’t even want to go home to Neena. The only thing I get from her is a tax break because she only makes $47,000 a year?”

Pacholke was well loved in her Wisconsin community but friends did not care for Haase, believing he never really cared for her.

“They were always arguing, and it seemed like Neena was more in love with Kyle than he was with her,” one friend told DailyMail.com.

Pacholke’s parents confirmed she suffered from mental health issues for years.

“She was getting treatment,” her mother, Laurie Pacholke said. “She was getting treatment. I’ll put it out there – she had been to the crisis center a couple of times. She had so many people here to talk to. She talked to people, but she didn’t want anybody to know how she was hurting so she didn’t talk until it got so bad.”
