Liz Cheney gives Trump best reason yet to run in ’24, demurs on preference of Dems holding House

Embittered Republican renegade Liz Cheney has once again shown that her only loyalty is to herself with remarks that were unsupportive of her party’s prospects of taking control over the House of Representatives in the most critical midterm elections in the nation’s history.

The outgoing congresswoman who was demolished by her Trump-endorsed opponent in last month’s Wyoming primary not only has an ax to grind with GOP leaders including Rep. Kevin McCarthy who stands to be the next Speaker of the House if Republicans win in November, but she has much in common with the destructive force that is today’s authoritarian Democratic party as is evident by her role as Nancy Pelosi’s snarling attack dog on the J6 committee.

While in Austin at the Texas Tribune Festival on Saturday, Cheney demurred on which party would be preferable, voicing weak criticism of the ruinous policies of President Joe Biden that have led to the worst inflation in four decades, while seeming to endorse the Democrats.

“I think it’s really important though, as voters are going to vote, that they recognize and understand what the Republican Conference consists of in the House of Representatives today, and how much power the election deniers, the people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert and Jim Jordan, how much power those people will have in a Republican majority,” she said.

Her remarks on another topic made it clear that she already has one foot out the door and could potentially pull a Charlie Crist by jumping parties when asked if she intends to remain a member of the Republican party.

“I’m going to make sure Donald Trump — I’m going to do everything I can to make sure he’s not the nominee,” Cheney told Smith, “And if he is the nominee, I won’t be a Republican,” she said.

Cheney’s vow to stop Trump at all costs come as her time in Congress is slipping away like the proverbial sands through an hourglass and the J6 committee of which she is the vice-chair has been an abysmal failure with its boring hearings that failed impress the vast majority of the American public could also soon fade from the headlines, she did not offer any specifics on how she plans to derail the ex-POTUS though.

The vindictive political villainess also ripped McCarthy who she has nurtured a grudge against since he removed her from her House GOP leadership position last year for waging a war on Trump.

“No,” she bluntly said when asked if McCarthy should be Speaker, as the audience erupted in applause to Cheney who has become the Lady Gaga of the so-called Resistance.

“I say that because the Speaker of the House is the second in line to the president – the presidency – after the vice president. And at every single moment when our time of testing came, and Kevin had to make a decision about what he was gonna do, he’s made the – politically easy for him, or the – politically expedient decision instead of what the country needed. And I think that somebody who’s gonna be that close to the presidency needs to be somebody who’s faithful to the Constitution,” she added, a laughable assertion considering current Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s open contempt for the nation’s foundational document.

Like a loose cannon on deck, Cheney still has ample time to do much damage to the GOP before her time in Congress comes to an unceremonious end.
