Gun-control zealot David Hogg has accidentally proven himself to be a total hypocrite.
Despite spending his days calling for more gun restrictions, including a ban on so-called “assault weapons,” it turns out the guy likes playing with guns himself. And not just any guns, but guns far more deadly than so-called “assault weapons.”
He likes playing with literal submachine guns, as he explained in a now-viral Twitter post.
“People think I have never seen, touched or shot a gun. That’s bullshit. I’ve been shooting guns, including my dads MP5 (a literal submachine gun) from the FBI since I was in 4th grade. I knew how to clean, disable, load and shoot all our guns before I went to middle school,” he wrote.

You assume I know nothing about these guns or who owns them. I do because I have shot them and my family owned them throughout my childhood.

He was trying to prove that he knows what he’s talking about regarding guns. But all he managed to prove, critics say, is that he’s a blazing hypocrite.
After all, the MP5 gun he said he has been “shooting” is a hardcore submachine gun.
“Probably the most popular series of submachine guns in the world, it functions according to the proven roller-delayed blowback principle. Tremendously reliable, with maximum safety for the user, easy to handle, modular, extremely accurate and extraordinarily easy to control when firing – HK features that are particularly appreciated by security forces and military users worldwide,” according to its producer, Heckler & Koch.
“There are now well over 100 variants of the MP5 available to cover the large number of different tactical requirements for a wide variety of users. whether on land, on the water or in the air – The MP5 is universally applicable, making it usable in all areas and under all conditions.”
Why would someone need a gun for “land,” “water,” or “air?” Because the gun’s designed for the military!

“The MP5 was, for a time, the weapon of choice for US Counter Terrorist units such as Delta Force and DEVGRU as well as Navy SEAL boarding teams. … MP5s, of one flavor or another, are still used by US SOF units, particularly for personal protection and covert operations,” according to AmericanSpecialOps.com.
“Various US Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams also use the MP5, as do some military tactical teams such as USMC Special Reaction Teams (SRT).”
This is a pretty hardcore weapon that would probably be classified as a so-called “assault weapon.” One that’s reportedly fully automatic.
Yet Hogg, the young man who wants “automatic weapons” banned, is bragging about shooting one? Critics were not pleased by the blatant hypocrisy.

So “assault weapons” for you and your fed dad but not for us serfs huh?

And you believe that gives you the power to deny other people the same rights you exercised?

I don’t care what you know about firearms. But if you get access to a full auto MP5 it’s only fair that I get the same access.

I hope you had a background check before he gave it to you to shoot.
Or is it rules some but not others

So your dad is allowed to own guns and teach you how to shoot and properly handle one but other parents and kids aren’t allowed? Do you think guns are only okay for your dad(the fbi) and you to handle?

Your dad lets you shoot his department weapon? Something that’s illegal for the average citizen to possess?
How’s that cake taste, Marie?— Echo57 (@EchoFiveSeven) September 24, 2022
Note what the latter Twitter user wrote: “Your dad lets you shoot his department weapon? Something that’s illegal for the average citizen to possess?”
This is another point critics zeroed in on. It clearly wasn’t legal or appropriate for his father to let him play with a government-issued weapon.
So your dad did something illegal. Go figure.

@fbi is it okay for your agents to allow their elementary school aged kids to shoot federally issued firearms?
— NH (@TwoQuoque) September 25, 2022
Your father gave you access to his govt-issued machine gun?
Hi, @ATFHQ and @fbi. . . Is that a lawful use of service weapons?

For a guy who bellows day in and day out about the need for more gun laws, Hogg sure seems to have no problem breaking the laws that already exist.
And therein lies the crux of it, of course. Members of the right have long argued that what America needs is more and better enforcement of its current gun laws versus the introduction of new overburdensome gun laws …
