Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) appears to be on the verge of being vindicated after being viciously smeared by leftists and the media over long-running sex-trafficking allegations as career prosecutors recommend dropping the investigation.

The prosecutors told Justice Department superiors that a conviction is unlikely due to credibility questions concerning the two central witnesses, according to The Washington Post.
“Senior department officials have not made a final decision on whether to charge Gaetz, but it is rare for such advice to be rejected, these people told The Washington Post, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the deliberations. They added that it is always possible additional evidence emerges that could alter prosecutors’ understanding of the case,” the media outlet reported.
“Nevertheless, it is unlikely that federal authorities will charge Gaetz with a crime in an investigation that started in late 2020 and focused on his alleged involvement with a 17-year-old girl several years earlier. Gaetz, 40, has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, saying he has never paid for sex. He has also said the only time he had sex with a 17-year-old was when he was also 17,” the Washington Post damningly elaborated.
A federal grand jury has already heard testimony from associates of Gaetz’s, including an ex-girlfriend on the matter.
It was almost 1 1/2 years ago to this day when the NYT blared in its headlines that @MattGaetz was under investigation for child sex trafficking, and liberals – who claim to be skeptical of prosecutors and in favor of due process – spent 18 months calling him a pedophile. That ex-girlfriend was one of the women on a trip that Gaetz allegedly took to the Bahamas in 2018. Investigators have been trying to make a case against him using her testimony. A 17-year-old was also reportedly on that trip and is central to the investigation. However, sources familiar with the matter claim that she was 18 by the time she took the trip.
The woman who was the alleged teenager at the time and went on the trip has credibility issues that prosecutors now believe will damage her in front of a jury concerning the case.
The @mattgaetz slander was despicable. Our "public servants" leaked a false story about him to an eager regime press. It was a lie, and they all knew it. Now, no charges, but forever the liars will repeat this lie. And liberals are happy with this.
No rules, then. Ok.

The other witness is Joel Greenberg who is a former tax collector for Seminole County, FL. He also has credibility issues. He pleaded guilty last year to sex trafficking of a minor and other crimes in a plea deal with authorities.
Greenberg pleaded guilty to six criminal charges, including sex trafficking of a child, aggravated identity theft, and wire fraud after he was charged in 2020 with fabricating allegations and evidence to smear a political opponent. In exchange for pleading guilty, prosecutors agreed to dismiss the other 27 counts he faced and to recommend sentencing breaks. He is scheduled to be sentenced later this year.
Prosecutors have attempted to tie Greenburg to Gaetz over sex trafficking to no avail, according to the Washington Post. Many believe the investigation was cooked up because Gaetz is an ardent supporter of former President Trump and is baseless. Those on the left want him thrown in jail regardless of the lack of evidence.

Greenberg’s credibility is seriously in question because one of his crimes was fabricating allegations against a schoolteacher who was running against him to be a tax collector. He sent letters to the school falsely accusing the teacher of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student. That’s a similar allegation in the Gaetz case and a jury would have a field day with it.
“Nobody’s going to believe anything that Joel Greenberg says by itself. His statements would need to be corroborated by testimony or evidence,” David Bear, who is a lawyer for the aggrieved schoolteacher, said on Friday.
The investigation into Gaetz comes after authorities charged a Florida business executive with trying to extort his wealthy father.
Matt Gaetz is vindicated.
Prosecutors recommended NOT to bring charges against him.
Congressman Gaetz will win re-election this November & serve as a member of the Republican House majority beginning in January.

The business executive who was charged was Stephen M. Alford. He wound up pleading guilty in 2021 to wire fraud.
Authorities contend that he approached Gaetz’s father, Don Gaetz, claiming he could “guarantee” his son a pardon in the sex-trafficking case, as part of a convoluted $25 million scheme that also involved an effort to find a long-missing former FBI agent. Instead of paying Alford, Don Gaetz went to the FBI and secretly recorded the conversations.
Gaetz has stood his ground in all of this and looks to come out on top after a lengthy legal battle. He is running for re-election in November in Northwest Florida’s Congressional District 1.
