Following the airing of President Joe Biden’s interview with Scott Pelley of “60 Minutes,” two business owners joined Steve Doocy on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday to refute the president’s claim that inflation is basically under control.

Biden, who hadn’t done an interview in over 200 days, said during the Q&A on Sunday, “We’re in a position where for the last several months, [inflation] hasn’t spiked, it is just barely, it’s been basically even.”

Brian Flynn and Keith Troyer say that isn’t so.

“Every month, month-and-a-half, we’re getting an increase from our suppliers for freight, for the cost of goods… not flat at all. Not even close to flat,” Flynn told Doocy on Tuesday.

Flynn is the owner of Jim Dandy’s restaurant in Rutherford, New Jersey, and said in addition to inflation, state regulators have exacerbated the situation. For instance, new regulations have banned foam containers that were far less expensive than the kind he now has to buy for his restaurant. At one point, Flynn said he couldn’t afford to offer a lunch special any longer.

“I still have employees and, you know, when we did away with lunch specials at the beginning of the inflation, a few months back, less people came in during the day, but I still have cooks that I have to pay and, you know, they have families to feed,” he explained.

“So we operate at a break-even during the day and we hope to make up on the weekend. And that’s coming off of a summer where people are traveling again for the first time it seems where, you know, we operated at a 16 percent loss all summer.”

“So we are — now that September is back, we are hoping to make up, but we will see what happens,” Flynn said.

Troyer has a home and commercial cleaning business in Ohio and said prices have increased drastically over the last six to eight months. Customers are begging him to lower prices for the company’s services, but he says there’s nothing he can do. Some of his clients have reduced the number of times in a month they can pay to have their properties cleaned.

“[They say] ‘Hey, we used to get service every week can we go to every month or every other month?’ Yeah, do whatever you got to do. I understand. I completely get it,” Troyer said.

Of course, the effects of inflation aren’t limited to the business sector. One single mother of three told “Fox and Friends First” that Biden’s claims about inflation are simply not rooted in reality.

“[Inflation] is a very big deal to me,” Jamaica Bonvillian told host Carley Shimkus.

“We’re struggling to meet our needs… we pick and choose what’s important for us at the moment and those are the things that we are buying. We don’t have the extra to do the things that we want.”

Shimkus remarked, “One of the big things that has gone up is the cost of food. Milk and bread are up more than 16 percent, eggs up 39 percent, cheese up 13 percent and meat up nearly seven percent. Has that become a struggle for you?”

“Absolutely, it has, ” Bonvillian replied. “I’m finding that the assistance that I receive is not even enough to cover those basic needs every month. Maybe enough for two weeks?”

Bonvillian’s daughter reportedly goes to one of the better public schools in her area of Houma, Louisiana, but the commute is eating away at what little funds they have.

“That eats up a good bit of my cash that I make. I’m basically working part-time to make up the difference for the groceries and for gas and utilities. If it wasn’t for my family – I’m thankful that I have family that — we have a home that I don’t have to pay rent because there is no way that we would survive.

“After [Hurricane] Ida, the price of living went up here in Houma as well, so there’s just no way we would survive. We would be homeless,” she concluded.
