‘Everyone’s daughter. Everyone’s niece. Everyone’s sister’: LSU student found dead in bullet-riddled car

The murder of innocent victims is on the rise across the country, with the latest victim being a 21-year-old Louisiana State University senior who was gunned down early Friday morning while just simply sitting in the driver’s seat of her car.

According to reports from various local media outlets, Allison Rice, a white woman, was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car near a set of railroad tracks in Baton Rogue around 2:19 am when someone fired “five or six” bullets into her car, killing her.

“Witnesses say Rice was stopped at a train crossing in the 1500 block of Government Street around 2:20 Friday morning, she tried to make a U-turn and someone started shooting,” local station WWL reported.

Floyd Normand, a man who lives nearby, told the station that the area is known for its troublemakers.

“We’ve got a lot of problems here, you know what I mean. You’ve got people doing things they should not be doing, stuff like that. I’m trying to stay focused, stay out of that life, and be in my house. When night falls, I try to be in my house,” he said.

Listen:

The 1500 block of Government Street is reportedly in the 70802 zipcode area. According to data from ZipWho, the area is comprised primarily of black residents.

Rice’s family is understandably devastated.

Her aunt, Susie Rice Granier, “said she and her husband had already left for an early-morning road trip to visit their son at his military base in Florida when they got the call,” according to The Advocate.

“We just stopped at the stop sign and cried. That’s all we could do,” she told the outlet.

“Everyone has just had enough. Everyone. I had a friend, and I don’t see her often… and she messaged me, and said, ‘Was that your niece?’ and I said, ‘Yes,’ and she wrote back and said, ‘I feel like she’s family now. I feel like she’s everyone’s daughter now.’ Everyone’s daughter. Everyone’s niece. Everyone’s sister,” she added in a separate statement to Fox News.

Had enough of what? Likely crime in general.

Rice’s “future was cut short Friday when [she] was found shot to death inside her car on Government Street, eliciting renewed calls from the mayor and from residents to end the wave of violence plaguing the city,” The Advocate notes.

“But for Rice’s grieving family, it’s already too late,” the local paper added.

Baton Rouge is a Democrat-run city, and it reportedly boasts the country’s top murder rate.

“New Orleans had the highest homicide rate of any major city so far this year, with about 41 homicides per 100,000 residents. … The homicide rate was 11.5 in Chicago, 4.8 in Los Angeles and 2.4 per 100,000 in New York City for the same period,” The Wall Street Journal reported in a piece published a day after Rice’s murder.

“This year to date, the New Orleans homicide rate is up 141% compared with the same period in 2019, according to the Metropolitan Crime Commission Inc., a nonprofit that works to reduce crime in the city. Shootings are up 100%, carjackings 210% and armed robberies up 25%. The homicide rate is on pace to surpass last year’s rate, which was the worst since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.”

Murders are up across the entire country. But what makes the current trend particularly disturbing is that, more often than not, the victims are innocent people who were just minding their business.

People like Oakland dentist Lili Xu.

Her murder “happened around 2 p.m. [on Aug. 21st] as a car carrying Xu had pulled over on the 1000 block of 5th Avenue.”

“A white, older-model Lexus can be seen pulling up beside Xu’s car, followed by someone getting out and approaching its passenger side,” according to The Mercury News.

“At that point, the assailant grabs Xu as she exits her car and tries to take her belongings, according to Oakland police Chief LeRonne Armstrong. Xu resists and a struggle ensues – one that ended with Xu being shot multiple times, Armstrong said. She later died at a hospital.”

As of mid-September, the suspect responsible for her murder had yet to be identified, let alone apprehended.

The murder on Aug. 10th of Washington, D.C. solar panel installer Aryeh Wolf was equally tragic.

“The suspect walked up to him, fired multiple rounds and fled the location,” local police Capt. Kevin Kentish said at the time to local station WBAL.

Why? The reason appears to be that there is none. Thankfully, in this case the suspect was at least quickly identified and subsequently apprehended.

The link between all three murders — that of Rice, Wu, and Wolf — is that they occurred in Democrat-run cities …
