A spokesperson for the Department of Defense says that Kelisa Wing, the chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer at the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), is under review for racist remarks on Twitter.
This past week, the self-described “woke administrator” was in the news for disappearing from Twitter after her anti-white tweets surfaced.
“We are aware of news reports concerning an official at DoDEA. The office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness is reviewing this matter,” Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman said, according to Fox News.
Who knew there was an Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness? Sounds like an important job where a lot of rubber stamps are affixed to cases that are to be swept under the rug.
Pardon the cynicism. In any case, Wing has been called to the principal’s office, where she will undoubtedly be treated with kid gloves after a friendly, deferential probe.
“Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts in… [DoDEA] are an important part of building and sustaining an organizational culture where all students, educators, and staff are valued and respected,” said Schwegman. “Our focus remains on ensuring military-connected students, their families, and our employees have equitable access to opportunities and resources that support student achievement and readiness for college and careers.”
We could parse that word-salad statement of purpose in a longer article. For now, let’s just have a look at why the diversity chief is under review. Just note that Wing’s tweets are appearing here as screenshots, as her Twitter account has been deleted.
In her most inflammatory tweet, the DoD official wrote, “I’m so exhausted at these white folx in these PD sessions this lady actually had the CAUdacity to say that black people can be racist too… I had to stop the session and give Karen the BUSINESS.”
“PD” does not stand for Police Department or Pupillary Distance. It refers to Professional Development. Because Kelisa Wing is in charge of developing professionals in the US Military. She vigorously wags her finger at those who have a different view of race. She is on staff because hers is the correct view, and her purpose is to homogenize that view.
The NEA has promoted Wing’s assertion that teenagers should take a knee during the national anthem as a way to “dismantle racial oppression,” spurring one Twitter user to criticize that stance.
Faced with answering the user or dismissing her, Wing chose the latter.
“Bye Karen,” she condescended.
The DoD official likes to trade in well-worn aphorisms.
“Racism is ingrained in the very fabric of our country,” she summarized without citing any evidence or reasoning. Government officials and DEI officers just say that a lot, because that is what passes for discourse in today’s America.
Wing loves the word ‘Karen’ as a derogatory word for white people. She has referred to Donald Trump as the “whole boy version of a Karen” and Betsy DeVos (former secretary of education) as “the queen of Karens.”
When asked by a Twitter user where she could go to “get a break from white nonsense for a while,” Wing responded, “If another Karen tells me about her feelings… I might lose it…”
Wing is the author of a series of books for children, under the banner “Racial Justice in America.” Her titles include “What is White Privilege?” “What Is the Black Lives Matter Movement?”, “What Does It Mean to Defund the Police”, “Atrocities in Action,” and “Juneteenth”.
In an age when misinformation and disinformation are the twin bogeymen haunting left-wingers, the Marxist author has a bit of a relationship with disinformation herself. In her title, “What is Black Lives Matter?” she writes that “almost all” the protests after George Floyd’s murder were “peaceful.”
In point of fact, the riots cost cities more than a billion dollars in damages, which has been recognized as “the most expensive in insurance history.”
As for misinformation, Wing claimed in her book “What is Anti-Racism?” that “the modern idea of ‘race’ was introduced by the National Party in Germany.” She contradicts herself in the same book, saying that the concept of ‘race’ was of American origin.
Wing doesn’t know a lot of things. Or, she knows them but makes opposite claims.
She doesn’t seem to know that the word ‘race’ is a biblical word that refers to all humans of all ethnicities.
She doesn’t appear to know that the term ‘race’ as it is now used comes from the field of eugenics, which predates the Nazis’ rise to power in Germany. According to Wikipedia, eugenics sought to “alter human gene pools by excluding people and groups judged to be inferior or promoting those judged to be superior.” It was a movement that used inhumane tactics, such as the sterilization of black women, to eliminate impure peoples from the gene pool.
She for sure doesn’t recognize that eugenics was a founding principle behind Planned Parenthood or that the home of the Klu Klux Klan was the Democratic Party.
We’ll see what the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness turns up in its review of Wing’s public statements. Judging from prior results of such probes, it won’t be much.
