Biden employs Air Force 1, motorcade to cast vote in person in Del instead of using mail-in ballot

President Joe Biden took a $2,600 per minute trip to his home state of Delaware on Tuesday to vote in person, while former presidents opted for the responsible choice of absentee ballots.

The trip required the use of Air Force One, two motorcades, and local police involvement to accommodate the president and first lady’s whim.

“While presidents typically file absentee ballots to avoid the cost of traveling to their home states, Biden made the trip to vote in person, telling reporters Tuesday that he was boarding Air Force One simply ‘to vote,'” Fox News reported.

Former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump both chose to avoid the undue burden on local law enforcement and tax-payer expense, instead utilizing absentee ballots in 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2020.

“Biden and first lady Jill Biden departed Washington for Delaware at roughly 6 p.m. Tuesday. They voted, hopped back on Air Force One and were flying back to Washington by 8 p.m.,” Fox News reported.

The White House has not revealed the total cost of Biden’s latest jaunt to Delaware nor why he chose to vote in person.

The average cost per flying hour (CPFH) of the Presidential Boeing 747 was $206,337 in 2014, according to data released by the Air Force. Biden took the smaller Boeing 757 version of AF1 on this trip, according to Bloomberg.

Biden has been under scrutiny for his many trips to his home state, with critics saying he’s spent 40 percent of his time as president away from the office.

Fiscal irresponsibility has been a source of contention in regard to Biden.

In August, he came under fire for the $500,000 taxpayer-funded security fence being installed at his $2.7 million Rehoboth Beach house, as reported by Fox News.

The Department of Homeland Security awarded a $456,548 contract to Sussex County company Turnstone Holdings LLC to construct the security fence around the president’s property.

USAspending.gov reported the amount has since increased to $490, 324.

“Construction of the fence began on Sept. 21 of last year and is expected to be completed by June 6, 2023,” Fox News reported.

During the September 8 press briefing, a reporter asked press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if the president would be curbing the many trips to his Wilmington, Delaware beach home, Kiawah Island, South Carolina, Nantucket, Massachusetts, and Camp David.

Citing a Gallup poll that said 24 percent of Americans are spending less, 17 percent are driving less and 17 percent are canceling vacations in response to unprecedented inflation, the reporter asked if Biden would also be tightening his belt.

“The times that the president has gone to Delaware – not including and we were very clear that when he went to South Carolina in August and Rehoboth he was going to go spend time with his family – which every president does,” Jean-Pierre responded. “That is not unusual. That is not uncommon. And the president has the right to spend time with his family. Just like every American across the country.”

The Gallup poll clearly illustrates that “every American” is not spending time vacationing with their families due to rising costs across the board.
