‘They ain’t got no shame’: Biden really thinks he has swagger now

President Joe Biden continued his vicious attacks toward MAGA Republicans Thursday during a speech where he claimed that they “embrace political violence,” defy the will of the people and have “no shame.”

At a Democratic National Committee meeting that took place in Maryland Thursday night, Biden told attendees, “Extreme MAGA Republicans just don’t threaten our personal and economic rights, they embrace political violence,” presumably referring to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

“They refuse to accept the will of the people,” he claimed, ratcheting up the divisive rhetoric once again. “They threaten our very democracy.”

The comments were akin to others he made in Philadelphia recently where he accused Trump supporters of semi-fascism.

“You can’t call yourself a democracy when you don’t, in fact, count the votes that people legitimately cast and count that as what you are,” Biden told a union crowd in Pittsburgh taking a swipe at former President Trump. “Trump and the MAGA Republicans made their choice. We can choose to build a better America or we can continue down this sliding path of oblivion to where we don’t want to go.”

Then he took aim at congressional Republicans who voted against his infrastructure bill, asserting they are now trying to take credit for provisions in it.

“We also passed once-in-a-generation investment in the nation’s roads, highways, bridges, railroads, ports, airports, water systems, high-speed Internet,” Biden bragged to the crowd, referring to the infrastructure bill that he signed into law in 2021.

“We got a little help from Republicans, but not a lot. But enough to get it passed,” the president noted. “The truth is, there are a lot more Republicans taking credit for that bill than actually voted for it.”

Biden then openly mocked Republicans.

“I see them out there – ‘And now we’re gonna build this new bridge here. We’re all for it. And by the way, this new road and we’re gonna get Internet.’”

The crowd laughed right on cue at the smear.

“I love ’em, man,” Biden stated, meaning exactly the opposite. “They ain’t got no shame. They don’t have any shame.”

“You think if they really cared about inflation, reducing it, they would have voted for the Inflation Reduction Act,” he said later to the cordoned-off section of one of the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center’s halls.

Biden has used this line of attack before.

“We got 12 Republicans in the House and a couple handfuls in the Senate,” Biden said to the Democratic National Committee back in March. “But I notice, every new bridge or highway, you have a Republicans who voted against the infra—standing there, taking credit. As my mother would say, ‘God love them.’”

During his speech, Biden touted his perceived accomplishments and listed items Democrats still intend to address from codifying Roe vs. Wade to banning so-called assault weapons and safeguarding elections, according to Politico.

Biden attacked Sens. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) for going after social programs, including Medicare. Scott, who is the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, has proposed reevaluating spending on the programs every five years.

The president pretended to forget Trump’s name before bragging about polls that allegedly suggest he could beat the former president in a 2024 general election rematch.

He also waded in once again on abortion. The president claimed there would be a surge of voter activity in the fall midterm elections pushing back against the overturning of Roe vs. Wade. Biden reiterated that abortion could be just the beginning of Republican attempts to quash rights, including contraception and same-sex marriage.

“Republicans don’t have a clue about the power of women,” Biden declared. “Let me tell you something: They’re about to find out.”

“In just weeks and months, more than half of America will have banned abortion if we don’t win in this off-year election. And they’re not going to stop there,” he charged, suggesting Republicans would attempt to pass a national ban on abortion if they controlled both the House and Senate.

“If they had their way, they’d come after contraception and marriage equality, the whole right to privacy. … We can’t let that happen, either,” Biden asserted. “Democrats won’t let that happen.”

Democrats evidently feel emboldened by Biden’s smear tactics and divisive rhetoric. It’s like red meat to his radical base ahead of the midterm elections.

“It’s a particularly strong issue for our base,” Sen. Gary Peters of Michigan, who leads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, commented according to the Associated Press. “Folks want us, want people to show that there is a clear contrast in the election between where Democrats are and Republicans have been.”

Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) claimed that issues of democracy, as well as Trump himself, are increasingly becoming topics of concern for voters, according to the Associated Press.

“More and more people are feeling that, you know, this former president broke the law over and over and over again, and people around him are still doing his bidding to undermine our democracy,” she asserted, commending Biden’s recent approach to inciting division and potentially violence against Republicans, noting that “threats are only going up, not down.”
