KJP attempts to justify Biden’s many vacations as struggling Americans cancel plans

President Joe Biden has spent one out of every three days on vacation since moving into the White House and his press secretary told reporters that he deserves that time “just as every American does.”

During Thursday’s press briefing, a reporter asked Karine Jean-Pierre if the president would be curbing the many trips to his Wilmington, Delaware beach home, Kiawah Island, South Carolina, Nantucket, Massachusetts and Camp David.

Citing a recent Gallup poll that said 24% of Americans are spending less, 17% are driving less and 17% are canceling vacations in response to unprecedented inflation, the reporter asked if Biden would be tightening his vacation belt.

“The president been to his beach house 6 times this year, he’s been to North and South Caroline on vacation,” the reporter said. “Has the president himself considered personally reducing his spending because of inflation or have the administration reduce spending?”

Considering Biden spent 234 days away, compared to 589 in office, Jean-Pierre should have been prepared for the query.

“The times that the president has gone to Delaware – not including and we were very clear that when he went to South Carolina in August and Rehoboth he was going to go spend time with his family – which every president does,” Jean-Pierre responded. “That is not unusual. That is not uncommon.”

Inflation of this level is uncommon, however, Jean-Pierre doubled down at that point.

“And the president has the right to spend time with his family,” she continued. “Just like every American across the country.”

The Gallup poll clearly illustrated that “every American” is not spending time vacationing with their families due to rising costs across the board, making Jean-Pierre’s response out of touch.

Moving beyond the optics of mass vacations during these financially unstable times, reporters also wonder if the president is performing his duties as leader of the free world.

Jean-Pierre insisted Biden can be president anywhere and not to assume that he isn’t working when out of the office.

“Look, the way we see that is the president can be president anywhere,” she said. “He can work from the residence, he can work from the Oval Office, he can work from Delaware. That is what he’s able to do as president of the United States.”

Jean-Pierre argued that Biden is tackling inflation, pointing to lower gas prices compared to the start of the summer.

“He’s doing everything that he can to make sure that we lower costs,” she claimed.

This is not the first time Biden has had to defend his vacation-to-work ratio.

The president was derided for vacationing in Delaware while former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was lauded for his April trip to Kyiv where he strolled the war-torn streets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In August, Ashley Rindsberg, author of “The Gray Lady Winked,” called out Biden’s hypocrisy during an appearance on “Fox & Friends First.”

“You just pointed out that Biden is vacationing in a $20 million home which, good for him but, for the rest of us out here it doesn’t look good,” the Israel-based journalist said. “And you want a leader who you can feel like is on your side and can relate to the experience you have right now, not an experience he might have had 50 years ago when he was a kid, and that is just not the message he is sending out and I think that’s because he actually does not care.”

To support his claim, the author pointed to the fact that as Americans struggle to make ends meet, the president wouldn’t even stop a bike ride on the beach to field questions from the more than favorable press.

“Here we’ve got Joe Biden biking along on the beach in South Carolina avoiding reporters and,” he went on to emphasize, “essentially avoiding the American people and I think that’s the bigger issue here is that you cannot as president avoid the people that you are accountable to and I think that is one of the many, many failures that we’re seeing coming out of the Biden White House.”
