Steve Hilton: Biden’s America isn’t working because ‘stay-at-home’ subsidies stunt workforce levels

Host of Fox News’ “The Next Revolution,” Steve Hilton, gave a monologue on Labor Day weekend addressing the U.S. labor participation rate, blaming “stay-at-home” unemployment subsidies for depleting the American workforce.

Able working-age adults are reportedly choosing in many instances to stay at home and draw unemployment because it’s easier than commuting to an office and working for a living. It’s demoralizing for the country as a whole and it is adversely affecting the workforce and our productivity as a nation.

“If you listen to the Commander-in-Chaos, Captain Calamity himself, or his poor hapless spokesperson, Karine Non-prepared, everything’s going great for America’s workers,” he said kicking off the segment.

Hilton then played clips of President Biden and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre proclaiming that the economy has never been stronger and basically that there’s nothing to see here.

“Oh yeah! Historic! Best in the world, the world, the world! In their world maybe, but in the real world… here’s the reality this Labor Day weekend. Joe Biden’s America is not working. Yes, it’s true that the unemployment rate is low, but the main reason the rate is so low is because so many Americans have just stopped looking for work,” he contended.

“Just this week, we saw the latest figures for job openings. Way ahead of expectations. Nearly an all-time record. They try and spin this as good news. ‘Look! The economy is doing really well. People are hiring.’ No! They can’t find people to do the work. It’s one of the reasons we have runaway inflation,” the Fox News host claimed.

Hilton then dove into the statistics of the workforce and it is sobering.

“The labor participation rate is still the lowest, outside of the pandemic shutdown, for 45 years. It’s just over 60%. That means 40% of Americans of working age are not working. That’s not just an economic disaster but a social disaster… study after study has shown that having a job is one of the most important building blocks of a happy, flourishing life… but around 90 million Americans of working age are not actually working,” Hilton pointed out.

“Of course, some can’t work for very good reasons and in a compassionate society, we must help and support them… but we all know from our personal experience that we have many people who could work and should work but who are enabled to not work by the cushion of government stay-at-home subsidies. We need a pro-worker policy agenda for real and… we need to increase the demand for American workers by bringing back jobs from China, and promoting U.S. manufacturing. President Trump led the way… while Biden of course is heading in the opposite direction with his typical incoherence, using the Defense Production Act to boost jobs in China,” he continued.

In the end, Hilton contends that forcing students into Marxist universities is not the answer because they are not learning productive skills they can use throughout life.

“Perhaps more important is increasing the supply. That means dropping our costly and self-destructive obsession with sending every young American to woke indoctrination factories, formerly known as universities, and instead of churning out activists and bloggers, equipping the next generation with the skills they need to be productive workers in the private sector enterprise economy,” Hilton asserted.
