Ted Cruz says Team Biden has ‘crossed a threshold’ in ‘deliberately’ demonizing half the country

The reverberations of President Biden’s angry Philadelphia speech smearing MAGA Republicans, without evidence, of extremism, are still being felt.

The entire political/media establishment has weighed in, including U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), who finds the whole scenario concerning and possibly a deplorables 2.0 moment.

On the “Verdict with Ted Cruz,” the lawmaker implied that Biden administration’s approach to unity, which the president promised upon taking office in January 2021, is a departure.

Politicians are fair game, but trashing voters is a whole new ballgame, Cruz told Michael Knowles during an approximately 40-minute conversation.

“For a long time, communists have been calling their enemies fascist. That has been a talking point from the radical left,” Cruz recalled. “That being said, I think we’re seeing a new development that is really troubling — which it is one thing for people in politics to demonize their political opponents. It is an entirely new threshold to start demonizing the voters.

“We should not be surprised to see Biden’s White House press secretary saying nasty things about Donald Trump. We understand: She doesn’t like Donald Trump; Biden doesn’t like Donald Trump. We shouldn’t be surprised to see her saying nasty things about me or other elected Republicans.”

“This is a very different thing, though,” Cruz continued. “She is blasting half the country. I mean this is reminiscent of Hillary Clinton’s ‘deplorables’ lie. Like “If you dare to vote against our regime, you’re a fascist, you’re a deplorable.’ And, you know, part of the problem with that is it sets the predicate, then, for people to be silenced, for people to be cancelled. It sets the predicate…to use the idiotic language of the left, in some ways it’s an invitation to attack, even an invitation to violence. It is again to use the left’s language, it is othering. And I think it is harmful to our country.

“And the problem is, Joe Biden is doing it deliberately. The White House press secretary is doing it deliberately. These politicians and their henchmen have decided to try to demonize half the country, and it’s really, really dangerous, it’s dishonest, and its wrong.”

As Sen. Cruz alluded, it is a bit much for the perpetually projecting, anti-free speech, authoritarian, and demagogic Democrats who, for example, have weaponized the legal system against their political opponents, to lament threats to democracy.

In a long list of semi-fascist things that Trump never did while he was in office, historian Victor Davis Hanson wondered rhetorically the following:

Did Trump order an FBI raid on the Obama home, on rumors that there were thousands of documents under dispute with the National Archives in his possession, especially given the Obama record of fiercely fighting any Freedom of Information Act lawsuits to release his documents?…Or, with a look ahead to his own reelection, did Trump in 2018 order a raid on the Biden home, in search of “lost” Biden vice presidential documents, supposedly improperly removed after Biden’s tenure that might have shed light on the Biden family’s extracurricular foreign lobbying?
