In a stream of Instagram posts that have since been deleted, iconic rapper Kanye West revealed that he boasts an addiction to pornography and that this addiction ruined his  family, meaning presumably his marriage to socialite Kim Kardashian.

“Don’t let Kris make you do playboy like she made Kyle and Kim do[.] Hollywood is a giant brothel[.] Pornography destroyed my family[.] I deal with the addiction[.] [I]nstagram promotes it[.] Not gonna let it happen to Northy and Chicago,” he wrote in one post.

“Kris” was a reference to Kristen Kardashian, his estranged wife’s mother. “Kyle” was a reference to his wife’s half-sister, Kylie Jenner. “Northy and Chicago” meanwhile were references to his children.

It’s a fascinating admission given his strong Christian beliefs and recently unveiled conservative values. However, while the admission may have come as a surprise to some, West actually already revealed his porn addiction during an interview three years ago with New Zealand DJ Zane Lowe.

“Like for me, Playboy was my gateway into full on pornography addiction. My dad had a Playboy left out at age five, and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life. From age five ’til now, having to kick the habit, and it just presents itself in the open like it’s ok, and I stand up and say, ‘No it’s not ok,'” he said at the time.

“It’s like with God, I’ve been able to beat things that had a full control of me. You know that Playboy that I found when I was 5-years-old was written all over the moment when I was at the MTV Awards with the Timberlands, the Balmain jeans — before people was rocking Balmain jeans — and the Hennessy bottle. It’s like that was such a script out of a rock star’s life.”

He added that the death of his mother in 2007 only exacerbated his addiction.

“My mom had passed a year before and I said some people drown themselves in drugs. And I drowned myself in my addiction,” he said.

Yet strangely enough, despite his addiction to pornography, it appears he’s not too big of a fan of premarital sex — or at least not while working on an album.

Indeed, during the same interview, he revealed that during the production of his albums, he’d asked his staff to not engage in any premarital relations.

“There was times where I was asking people to fast during the album. This is gonna be radical what I’m about to say. We can look at it in the edit. There were times I was asking people to not have premarital sex while they were working on the album. I know that’s one where The Shade Room will be like, ‘What you mean not have premarital sex!?'” he said.

“But seriously, there’s times I went to people that were working on other projects and said, ‘Could you just work and focus on this?’ I mean, it’s known when people pray together, families that pray together stay together. When people pray together and fast together, the power is increased.”

Fair enough.

Dovetailing back to West’s since-deleted Instagram posts, one post contained a screenshot of messages that it appears he’d exchanged with his wife.

“From my mom- PLEASE[.] Tell him to please stop mentioning my name. I’m almost 67 years old and I don’t always feel great and this stresses me to no end,” a message from his wife read.

“Ya’ll don’t have so so over my black children and where they go to school[.] They will not do playbox and sex tapes[.] Tell your Clinton friends to come get me[.] I’m here,” West wrote in response.

West’s wife became famous 15 years ago courtesy a sex tape. Prior to the sex tape, she’d been slightly famous, but certainly not a household name.

“It’s hard to imagine a time when the world didn’t know Kim Kardashian. Back then, she occasionally appeared in tabloids as the daughter of Robert Kardashian, the lawyer who famously helped defend friend O.J. Simpson, and BFF/assistant to socialite Paris Hilton,” Complex magazine notes.

“If you were a fan of Fox’s truly revolutionary Paris Hilton/Nicole Richie reality show The Simple Life, you probably caught a glimpse of Kim on various episodes of the series during the ‘00s. But other than that, the public knew Kim as a stylist and Paris’ BFF, and later, the first woman Nick Lachey went on a date with following his split with Jessica Simpson.”

Then came the sex tape.

“Thanks to her friendship with Hilton, Kim was already getting noticed, but the tape gave her a new level of notoriety, even if wasn’t in the way she wanted. The tape, however, did give the family a launchpad: a place to create their brand,” according to Complex.

With Kim at their lead, the Kardashians are now an uber-famous and uber-wealthy family. However, they’re also a dysfunctional one, thanks to an ongoing divorce between West and Kim. A divorce that only got even more complicated when Kim began dating comedian Pete Davidson.
