Steve Doocy takes FBI at its word, asks why Trump has ‘biggest secrets in the world’ in his desk drawer

“Fox & Friends” host Steve Doocy sounded far more like a shill for CNN than a co-host on a conservative network as he backed the FBI by asking why classified documents were in former President Trump’s desk, hyperbolically calling them “the biggest secrets in the world.”

Trump contends that he declassified the documents while he was president before bringing them home to his residence at Mar-a-Lago. But the left incessantly keeps bringing up the non-sequitur fact that he signed a 2018 law making the possession of classified material a felony.

Now, they are using a staged photo by the DOJ and FBI that shows classified documents seized from Mar-a-Lago displayed haphazardly on a carpet highlighting the top-secretiveness of it all.

The feds allegedly placed the documents that way for a photo-op. Trump is by all accounts a neat freak and would never leave documents like those just lying around. He said as much on Truth Social.

“Terrible the way the FBI, during the Raid of Mar-a-Lago, threw documents haphazardly all over the floor (perhaps pretending it was me that did it!), and then started taking pictures of them for the public to see. Thought they wanted them kept Secret? Lucky I Declassified!” the former president asserted. “Whatever happened to NUCLEAR, a word that was leaked early on by the FBI/DOJ to the Fake News Media!”

Doocy pushed the calculated assertion by the DOJ, “Can we go back and look at those documents on the floor?”

“Keep in mind, according to the filing, the agents found three classified documents in Donald Trump’s desks,” Doocy proclaimed, feigning shock in a striking imitation of a leftist propagandist. “What were they doing in the desk?!”

“And when you look at these particular things right here, at least five yellow folders marked top secret and another secret SCI — that stands for sensitive compartmentalized information — these are the biggest secrets in the world!” he declared, again displaying a level of dishonest disbelief that was almost impressive.

“We have heard that Donald Trump’s lawyers went through all the stuff, but how could you go and look at that and not think, you know what? That’s probably something I should turn back over,” he stated.

“His attorneys were asked about this, and he said he had already ordered them to be declassified,” Ainsley Earhardt finally pointed out, at long last voicing a defense of Trump, adding, “They were taken to Mar-a-Lago when he was president.”

Doocy, however, was having none of it and took the leftist path less traveled. He claimed that there is an accepted protocol for declassifying documents that Trump and his team did not follow, rendering that defense moot.

“We do know that the agencies involved in those documents have said, you know, ‘Nobody ever told us they were declassified.’ There’s a protocol to do it, and apparently, if he thought that he was doing it, they didn’t do it right,” he charged.

One wonders how Doocy would be privy to whether Trump and his team followed that protocol or not.

Conservative political commentator Dan Bongino took issue with Doocy’s covering for the FBI’s invasive tactics.

Bongino joined Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Wednesday to discuss the Justice Department’s accusation that Trump’s team “likely” attempted to “conceal and remove” classified documents from his Florida estate.

During the interview, Bongino took what looked like a sideswipe at Doocy.

“You know what I like about working here is there’s a lot of different people with a lot of different opinions, even on the couch. I disagree strongly with people at the network who want to default to trusting the FBI, because I ask the question — Brian, I’m not suggesting this is you, of course — but why would you trust the FBI when it comes to Trump? Can you give me a reason, anyone?” Bongino asked.

“None… Zero,” Kilmeade responded.

“Where have they shown any documented history of unbiased, nonpartisan law-enforcement-type activity? The answer is in no Trump case ever. So your default defense of the FBI is outrageous,” Bongino declared, apparently referring to Steve Doocy’s fatuous defense of the FBI.

“Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, I accept that, but it’s not one bad apple. It’s a rotten orchard,” he continued. “The DOJ is saying we don’t need a special master to review this, just trust us, we will review it ourselves with the FBI. You know what? I’m going to take a hard pass on that because we trusted you in the past, and you told us that it was a pee pee tape, Russian collusion, and a DNC hack, and you have backed up absolutely none of that. So I’m gonna give them a big zero on the credibility scale.”

Seemingly referring to Doocy’s assertion that Trump did not follow protocol on declassifying documents, Bongino tore into the statement.

“Hey, it’s classified,” he mocked. “And you know that how!? Oh, so you are just assuming because the pee pee tape FBI told you that! So you’re just assuming. You don’t know any of that.”
