‘It’s embarrassing’: Jesse Watters breaks down why DoJ was hesitant to release Mar-a-Lago affidavit

On Friday, the Justice Department released the search warrant affidavit for the FBI’s storming of former President Donald J. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, much of it blacked out with extensive redactions that ensured that the most important details would remain hidden from the public.

Conservatives reacted to the lack of transparency regarding the unprecedented raid on the home of President Joe Biden’s top political opponent including Fox News anchor Jesse Watters who gave his take on the affidavit during Friday’s edition of “Jesse Watters Primetime,” skewering the absurdity of the desperate move by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

“This whole archives thing, the whole presidential records thing, this classified records thing, it’s just an excuse for them to go in there,” Watters said. “None of this classification stuff even matters. Trump said he declassified everything that was still there in the boxes. They may have had classification markings on them and the media is using that to scare you, but if Trump declassified something and a lawyer doesn’t change a little marking on it — doesn’t matter. Plus, he’s the president. He has legal access to whatever Trump administration document he wants when he leaves office. That’s the deal all presidents have, he can see whatever he wants.”

“Well, according to the affidavit, there appears to be two major concerns: where the documents were stored and how they were stored. The affidavit states: ‘I believe that the storage room and other spaces within the premises are not currently authorized locations for the storage of classified information or NDI.’ NDI is national defense information,” he continued.

“So let me get this straight: Trump has some Trump administration documents locked up in the storage room of a basement of a private club guarded by Secret Service agents? That’s the reason for the raid? These are 10 times more secure than Hillary Clinton’s materials left on a server in Chappaqua, begging for our enemies to penetrate, but they also didn’t like how the documents were stored,” Watters said.

“Are you ready for this? It says of most significant concern was that highly classified records were un-foldered, intermixed with other records and otherwise unproperly identified,” he said. “Wait a minute, you’re telling me Trump’s biggest crime is his filing system, that he mixed newspaper clippings with a love letter from Little Rocket Man? Call Staples right away. We need a paralegal in here immediately to organize these files. This is why the Justice Department didn’t want to release the affidavit. It’s embarrassing.”

Media outlets published a copy of the document which despite being huge in terms of a search warrant, was absent of any details – at least those that the DOJ deemed to be too secret to reveal to the American people – which further confirms the suspicions of many that it was just a fishing expedition to find “evidence” to be used to gin up a case against the former POTUS.

“The length of the probable cause affidavit is not unprecedented, but it is a bit odd. The more explaining an attorney must do in writing often that translates into a longer legal document and frequently signifies a weaker legal position,”  Mark W. Smith, a professor at the Ave Maria School of Law and senior fellow in law and public policy at The King’s College told Fox News Digital.

“The reference to multiple federal statutes and detailed discussion of confidential designations makes the document look a bit like an educational tool for the public or perhaps for the Florida federal courts,” he added.

Trump responded to the ridiculous amount of redactions after the document’s release.

“Affidavit heavily redacted!!! Nothing mentioned on ‘Nuclear,’ a total public relations subterfuge by the FBI & DOJ, or our close working relationship regarding document turnover – WE GAVE THEM MUCH. Judge Bruce Reinhart should NEVER have allowed the Break-In of my home. He recused himself two months ago from one of my cases based on his animosity and hatred of your favorite President, me. What changed? Why hasn’t he recused himself on this case? Obama must be very proud of him right now!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“WITCH HUNT!!!” Trump added in another Truth Social post.

“What ever happened to the nuclear secrets he was selling to the Saudis? Now, this is about a file cabinet? What’s in the file cabinet again? Don’t know. They won’t tell us because it’s classified. They’ll just leak it,” Watters added.
