Accused thief arrested for attempted rape of 15-year-old girl after NYC releases him with no bail

Believe it or not, another thug was loosed on the citizens of New York City without bail and proceeded to attempt another crime. This time, the attempted rape of a 15-year-old girl after New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg reduced a prior charge for the same offender.

Anthony Ibanez, 32, allegedly shoved the young girl to the ground at around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday in Parkchester, sexually assaulted her, and then menacingly threatened, “I’m going to take you to a quiet place and f—k you,” according to the criminal complaint against him, the New York Post reported.

Evidently, unnamed sources said a good Samaritan intervened and stopped the attack. Ibanez was roughed up so badly by the girl’s rescuer he actually went to the 43rd Precinct and claimed he was the victim of assault. This is the world we live in now.

But law enforcement recognized him and arrested him on charges of attempted rape.

Ibanez is accused of stalking the girl outside her Westchester Avenue apartment building as she reportedly used her phone to try to track down her AirPods, sources said.

After pushing her to the ground, Ibanez allegedly sexually abused the girl and then covered her mouth with his hand while making his verbal threat, court records said.

Ibanez – who gives a bad name to the popular guitar maker – was out on bail pertaining to a case from three months prior where he was accused of robbing a Hell’s Kitchen deli (no relation to chef Gordon Ramsay) alongside an accomplice who wielded a taser. He was busted on May 25 along with his buddy, Jason Clark, 22, and was charged with robbery in the first degree with use of a dangerous instrument.

That particular crime would have been “bail-eligible” according to the NY Post, but thanks to a reduction in charges by New York District Attorney Bragg to petit larceny, second-degree menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property, Ibanez was set free.

“We make charging decisions based on the facts and circumstances of each case in accordance with the law,” Doug Cohen, a DA’s Office spokesman, said in a statement. “As detailed in court records, Mr. Ibanez was not in possession of a weapon and was found to have allegedly stolen approximately $7.”

His bail was set at $150,000 by a Bronx judge at his arraignment on charges of attempted rape and sexual abuse Thursday morning, and he is due back in court Monday. His next appearance in the Manhattan case is set for Friday.

For a brief moment in time, it appeared that NY Gov. Kathy Hochul might follow the lead of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and relieve her non-prosecuting DA Bragg of his employment.

Earlier in August, an op-ed published by the Post called out the governor who replaced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo amid a sexual scandal.

Hochul said of leniency, “This is the law of the land in the state of New York, and it is our full expectation that it will be applied. Every element of the entire criminal-justice system needs to be working collaboratively.”

But Bragg still has his job, and given the current state of affairs in the Excelsior state, all New Yorkers should expect to see Ibanez on the streets again soon.
