After finding himself in hot water over sexual assault charges and recently videoed in a park with his pants down, Gary Busey’s spokesperson had a questionable defense for what the actor may have been doing on the bench where he likes “to meditate.”
With the news still fresh that the 78-year-old Busey had been charged with allegedly groping women at a horror movie convention earlier in August, the actor appeared to worsen the situation for himself Saturday when he was observed in a park in Malibu, California with his pants down. In light of his charges, many believed that the actor was engaged in lewd behavior, but a spokesperson guessed “he couldn’t get to the bathroom.”
Speaking with Page Six Tuesday, the spokesperson reported that Point Dume Park is a favored spot of the actor.
“Gary often sits on the bench in front of his home to meditate and look at the ocean,” they told the outlet.
“Our only guess is that perhaps at his age,” the spokesperson went on, “he realized he couldn’t get to the bathroom in time which explains what happened in the video of him on the bench.”
As previously reported, the actor was witnessed with his hands down his pants and after some time he hitched them back up and enjoyed a cigar as he looked out at the ocean for nearly a half hour.

The perceived self-gratification had come following charges filed in Cherry Hill, NJ where the actor had attended the “Monster Mania” convention that took place from August 12 to 14. The investigation had brought at least three charges against Busey with two counts of “criminal sexual contact” and one count of “criminal attempt/criminal sexual contact.”
TMZ caught up with the actor on Sunday at a gas station where he was dressed much the same as he was in the park and when confronted over the charges he stated, “They made up a story that I assaulted them sexually when I did not.”
“Nothing happened,” he reiterated.
When asked about the photos of him with his pants down, Busey did not directly respond and instead told the reporter, “You’re not gettin’ my point. You’re talkin’ too damn fast. I can’t understand you.”
Though the reporter had followed the actor to confront him again, no additional information was provided aside from repeated claims that the allegations were false.
A 2019 Hollywood Reporter profile had noted that Busey had been in a motorcycle crash in 1988 that had left him with “severe damage to the frontal lobe of his brain,” and that since that time he had been “more impulsive and prone to anger and delusions of grandeur.”
His son, Jake Busey, had told the outlet, “The post-accident version of him turned his personality up to 11. I feel like I lost my dad on December 4, 1988.”
