Illegal aliens who are determined to gain entry into the United States will resort to all sorts of trickery but three men who tried to sneak over the border dressed in special camouflage suits that allowed them to blend in with the desert surroundings were foiled by an eagle-eyed Customs and Border Patrol agent.
The trio who were wearing ghillie suits, a garment typically used by military personnel, law enforcement, hunters and nature photographers that is designed to blend in with the environment were nabbed on Thursday near Santa Teresa, New Mexico.
Pictures of the three men were posted to social media by Gloria Chavez, the chief Border Patrol agent for the El Paso Sector which encompasses 264 miles of the southern border and is “comprised of eleven stations and covers the geographical region of the entire state of New Mexico as well as two counties within far west Texas,” according to the CBP’s website.
“SMUGGLER TACTICS! People that enter illegally into the #USA, will often use extraordinary tactics to evade detection & arrest. Kudos to #ElPaso Sector #Santateresa agents for interdicting 3 migrants wearing #ghillie suits to blend into the southern #NewMexico desert terrain,” Chavez wrote on Twitter.

One of the pictures posted by Agent Chavez depict the three illegals whose faces have been blurred, standing in their suits with a Border Patrol agent on horseback in the background watching over them.

In another image, the trio sits on the ground, looking despondent that the great lengths that they went to disguise themselves were so easily sniffed out by savvy CBP agents.

A third picture shows two of the men appearing to be discussing something, perhaps why they simply didn’t just walk across the border like thousands of other migrants do, entering the U.S. with little problem.

According to the just-released July operational update from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, “In total, there were 199,976 encounters along the southwest land border in July, a four percent decrease compared to June,” putting the total number of nationwide encounters so far in FY 2022 at 2,242,413.
Twitter users weighed in on the CBP’s good catch.

Originating in Scotland, the ghillie suit has proven to be very effective when it comes to users being able to avoid easy detection, although that certainly wasn’t the case with the three amigos in New Mexico.
