The chaos at the U.S. border with Mexico was on full display this week, as “criminals” toppled Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s makeshift shipping container wall a day after it was erected, and Mexican authorities discovered a “deadly” 18-wheeler loaded with 150 sweltering migrants bound for Texas.
As American Wire reported, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, tired of waiting for President Biden’s administration to do anything about the gaps in the border wall, decided to fix a 1,000-foot gap himself with 60 stacked shipping containers, welded shut, and crowned with razor wire.

Well, just one day after it was set up, something knocked it down.
“Yesterday the governor @DougDucey announced that the first gap in the Yuma border where shipping containers are being used to close the gaps was complete,” reported Arizona news correspondent Claudia Ramos. “This morning this is how some containers woke up.”

Initial reports were that two of the 60-foot-long containers — weighing nearly 9 tons between them — were blown over by heavy wind, but C.J. Karamargin, Gov. Ducey’s communication director, refuted the claim, the Washington Examiner reported.
“The idea that it was a weather-related event seems unlikely,” Karamargin said. “These things weigh 8,800 pounds. There were two of them together — 8,800 pounds is basically the weight of a Ford F-450.”
“We have a lot of strong winds in Arizona,” he noted. “You don’t see a lot of Ford F-450s flying around when we have strong winds.”
Karamargin took the upended containers as a sign of the importance of the effort to close the gaps.
“Some people attempted to dismiss this as a pointless effort because this is not the main route through which people enter the United States,” he said. “If this didn’t matter, if this barrier that we are erecting was irrelevant, or somehow misplaced, then why would someone make the effort to topple over nearly 18,000 pounds of shipping container?”
“It just doesn’t make sense on its face,” he stated. “It doesn’t make sense.”
“Our goal, of course, is to make Arizona communities safer,” he added. “We clearly struck a nerve.”
Meanwhile, authorities in Mexico stopped an 18-wheeler, loaded down with 150 heat-exhausted migrants, headed for the border with Texas.
“Coordinated efforts of Del Rio Sector & the Government of Mexico an 18-Wheeler carrying 150 migrants traveling towards the U.S. was successfully interdicted,” tweeted Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens. “This has proven to be a deadly tactic that smugglers use. Luckily no one in this large group needed medical assistance.”

The Del Rio Sector of the border stretches 245 miles along the Rio Grande and Lake Amistad, Fox News reports, adding that encounters with migrants at the U.S. border with Mexico “have so far exceeded 2 million in fiscal year 2022.”
“The CBP announced Monday that there were 199,976 migrant encounters in July, taking the total so far this fiscal year to 1.946 million encounters” Fox News states.
Just weeks ago, 53 migrants were discovered dead from the heat inside an abandoned truck in San Antonio.
“These deaths are on Biden,” tweeted Texas Governor Greg Abbott following the tragic discovery. “They are a result of his deadly open border policies. They show the deadly consequences of his refusal to enforce the law.”

Back in Arizona, Karamargin vowed the shipping container wall will stand.
“The attempt to slow us down that happened late Sunday with these containers being knocked or pulled over, that will not deter us,” he stated. “Workers are on the scene right now doing the job that the governor has asked them to do, and they’re going to continue to do it.”
