U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-Wyo.) loss in Tuesday’s primary was seen as a foregone conclusion by many as her efforts in the sham Jan. 6 committee did not represent the will of her constituents. However, there was nothing but praise from progressives who despise actual representative government as their tributes and her own concession speech showed the congresswoman’s actions were only ever about her own promotion.
Primary voters in Wyoming made their voices heard Tuesday and, with a spread of more than 30 percentage points, chose Harriet Hageman to be the Republican nominee for the House over incumbent Cheney. Polling had suggested as much and well before the final ballot was cast, RINOs and liberals were already praising the work that she had done.
The Lincoln Project’s George Conway noted, “Whatever happens [Cheney] has won the general election for dignity, a race in which virtually none of her GOP colleagues could even compete.”

His praise had followed the disgraced Dan Rather’s opinion that “If Liz Cheney is defeated today, as expected, I would not frame it as her losing. It is a loss for Wyoming, the Republican Party, and the nation.”

Rather wasn’t alone in framing the narrative that had been primed in advance that this loss would be a catalyst for a future comeback for Cheney in some fashion. Alyssa Farah Griffin, the newest token “conservative” on ABC’s “The View” chimed in, “This is the beginning, not the end for [Cheney]. I stand with Liz.,” and others followed suit.
This is the beginning, not the end for @Liz_Cheney.
I stand with Liz. 🇺🇸

@Liz_Cheney wasn't defeated tonight.
She was unleashed.

.@Liz_Cheney’s loss diminishes our party. By putting her Constitutional responsibilities above partisanship and political future she deserves the highest possible praise. Attacks against Republicans based merely on disagreements about Trump must end.

Thank you, @Liz_Cheney, for your enduring commitment to public service, the Constitution, and the rule of law. History will look back on this moment correctly and favorably. 🇺🇸

The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart had gone a step further Friday in predicting Cheney’s loss would be akin to Obi-Wan Kenobi sacrificing himself to Darth Vader in “Star Wars,” paraphrasing the famous line, “If you strike me down, I will come back more than you can imagine.”
Naturally in this delusion, former President Donald Trump was Vader a sobriquet that used to be applied to former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The outgoing representative’s concession speech showed that she was keen on this idea as well as she took measures to compare herself to President Abraham Lincoln who “ultimately prevailed” after suffering multiple political losses and “saved our Union.”
“The great and original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and the House before he won the most important election of all,” Cheney said with suggestive foreshadowing about her plans. “Lincoln ultimately prevailed, he saved our Union and defined our obligation as Americans for all of history.”

FOX 42’s Tom Becka argued, “[Cheney] just gave a concession speech that will be studied for generations to come. She has bigger balls than most Republicans. I hope she runs for President.”

Whether or not she chooses to do so, the sweeping consensus from Cheney’s admirers highlighted the problem progressives have with facts in favor of “truths” as she was lauded for her “profile in courage.”
Thank you @RepLizCheney @Liz_Cheney for bravery & for standing up for truth & highlighting women who’ve come forward to tell truth (Jan 6th hearings). It’s my story & millions of womens’ stories. We need to tell truths – whether it’s about election or harassment. Thank you!

If Liz Cheney runs against Trump in the Republican primaries, she’ll be able to say what others won’t dare say: that Trump lost the 2020 election, lied to the nation about it, incited an insurrection, and is a continuing threat to our national security.
I’m here for it.

Liz Cheney losing in Wyoming bcuz she stood up & said the sky is blue not red. 😢 Similar to Nazis, there'll come a time when all associated with Trump will be shunned from polite society.

Liz Cheney will have always won to me. She will be remembered for many years to come and has made a footprint regardless to all of those that have pushed her out. That’s what happens when someone seeks and speaks truths . #LIZCHENY

.@Liz_Cheney may have lost tonight, but she has earned a place amongst honorable Americans who put country over Party and political ambition.
History will lump most of her GOP colleagues together as forgettable cowards. She will be remembered and admired as a profile in courage.

.@Liz_Cheney , I'm a diehard Dem, but I want you to know how much I respect you standing up for what is right, even though you knew it would hurt your reelection efforts.
Sadly, most of the ,@GOP sold their souls to the devil to stay in power.

Sending love and appreciation to an American Patriot: Elizabeth #LizCheney @Liz_Cheney
This is not a loss.
Wyoming lost. You won history's respect. You fought a tyrannical mad man. He's going to jail. You are going into history as a profile in courage. What's next? I'm in!!— Sophia A. Nelson (@IAmSophiaNelson) August 17, 2022
Cheney went on to quote Lincoln from his Gettysburg Address and said, “That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. That this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom and a government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from this earth.”
Republicans of Wyoming agreed, and they chose Hageman.
