An 80-year-old woman who was banned from a YMCA pool when she demanded that a transgender employee “with a penis” leave the women’s locker room was heckled by trans activists when she gave a press conference on the incident.
Julie Jaman regularly attended the Mountain View pool at a YMCA in Port Townsend, Wash., for 35 years. She recently saw a worker in the changing room while she was showering who had the wrong equipment to justifiably be in the women’s locker room.
Jaman alleged she heard a “man’s voice” while showering and proceeded to confront the worker whose name is Clementine Adams and who identifies as a woman. She asked the trans person if she had a penis and Adams told her it was “none of her business.” Jaman then asked her to leave.
She went to a staff member and complained. Jaman was then told by YMCA aquatics manager Rowen DeLuna that she was “discriminating” and that the police would be called.

The elderly woman was then told she was “banned from the pool forever’” before DeLuna called the police, where Jaman was described as having an “emotional response” and was accused of “screaming” in an incident report.
The YMCA claims she was banned for a culmination of reasons where she “violated the facility’s code of conduct.”
Erin Hawkins, who is the communications manager for the Olympic Peninsula YMCA, asserted, “We will not tolerate bias, hatred, or discrimination that leads to the oppression of individuals or communities. We will ensure sustained and meaningful progress toward equity and human dignity for all.”
Jaman addressed supporters on Monday concerning the disturbing incident. She started by saying “I’m the old lady. You may have read some version of my personal experience, a naked old lady in the women’s shower room, and what I saw that day.”
“The CEO of the YMCA told me pride posters are adequate to let people know, women know, what to expect in the shower room known for 60 years as a female only,” she stated. “One will now encounter men who identify as women undressing and showering with female humans. I object. I don’t want to be forced to shower and dress with the opposite sex present.”
As she spoke, a man yelled, “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands!” according to the Daily Mail.

Others shouted, “Don’t touch our stuff!”
Jaman backed up as the protestors edged closer before eventually ripping down the suffragette flags which had been put up behind her.
She tried to continue and was visibly upset and frustrated that police were not stopping the threatening protesters. Angry activists proceeded to chant “Trans rights are human rights!” and “Trans women are women!”
“I wish the police were here to keep everybody in order. We’ll have to call the police department. Are we gonna get beaten up here? Can somebody call the police please?” she asked.
“You can see why it’s so necessary to have safe spaces for women. This is truly an embarrassing subject, biology trumps ideology. Privacy, safety, dignity for female human beings is required when dressing and showering, no less is acceptable,” Jaman declared.
