Texas PD refuses to cave to woke mob, defends selfie with Kyle Rittenhouse: ‘Not how our country works’

The Thrall, Texas, Police Department is unapologetic over one of its officers taking a selfie with Kyle Rittenhouse and is clapping back at the online hatred spewed at them by a woke mob.

The police in the small central Texas town outside of Austin noted that the 19-year-old from Wisconsin was acquitted by a jury of his peers in the August 2020 shooting of three demonstrators in Kenosha during a Black Lives Matter riot.

“Make those stops, you never know who you might meet. Today it was Kyle Rittenhouse, welcome to Texas,” the Thrall Police Department wrote on Facebook Thursday, sharing a selfie of an unidentified officer smiling with Rittenhouse. The post caused an uproar among leftists who just can’t contain their hatred of Rittenhouse for exercising his constitutionally protected Second Amendment rights or for saving his own hide in a life and death situation.

The post garnered over 1,700 comments, 1,700 shares, and 10,000 likes as of Sunday. Nearly 6,500 were “laughs” or “love” reactions to the post but the hatred contained in a slew of comments was staggering. It got so vile that the police department eventually had to limit comments on the post.

As the negative comments piled up, made by leftists who targeted the department, the Thrall police commented, “I must have missed something, I believed that this young man was arrested, charged, indicted and then found not guilty by a jury of his peers.”

“Is this not how our country works anymore?” the police department asked. “The hate in these comments is terrible, if you have information that is contrary to that I would honestly love to hear it.”

Rittenhouse was 17 when he found himself in the middle of a firestorm in Wisconsin and was forced to use deadly force to protect himself while defending businesses in Kenosha. The young man had no choice but to open fire, shooting three people and killing two of them. The shootings were ruled as self-defense in a lengthy trial and Rittenhouse was cleared of all charges. Nevertheless, the left and the media painted him as a white supremacist and have done their level best to destroy his life.

“Sick you are making him out as a hero. Shame on your officer and this department,” one Facebook user named Kari Ashpaugh, who lives in Sattuck, Oklahoma, commented beneath the photo shared by the Thrall Police Department according to the Daily Mail.

“I get it, cause both can kill people without repercussions,” another Facebook user named Joshua Davis hatefully commented.

Others labeled the post as a “disgrace” and posited that Rittenhouse was stopped for a traffic violation and took the selfie with police, wasting taxpayer dollars.

“Is this a joke? You’re welcoming a known killer into our state?” Phoenix Woods, of Plano, Texas, railed. “This is completely disgusting.”

“The stupidity of how some of these departments use social media will never cease to amaze,” surmised commenter Ed Fox.

Others defended Rittenhouse as the mob raged on social media.

“Welcome to Texas Kyle and have a great year at school. Ignore these haters. They wouldn’t know bravery [if] it bit them on the rear,” Theresa Lounder, of Conroe, Texas, advised Rittenhouse.

Rittenhouse is reportedly attending Blinn College, which is a public junior college in Texas. He hopes to eventually transfer to Texas A&M University but due to his notoriety and the hatred engendered by leftists against him, that may be an unrealized dream in the end.

Organized protesters and a petition are circulating to prevent his enrollment. He’s already ruled out Arizona State University because of the swirling hatred there. Rittenhouse had planned to study nursing.
