Attorney General Merrick Garland finally broke his silence about the stunning FBI raid of former President Donald J. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, confessing that he himself approved the search warrant for what many have described as an action straight out of a banana republic.

Following days of Republican lawmakers calling for an explanation, President Joe Biden’s ruthless legal hatchet man stepped up to the podium on Thursday afternoon to deliver a brief statement, confirming that he signed off on the search and stating that he has filed a motion for the warrant and property receipt from the Mar-a-Lago raid to be unsealed.
“There are, however, certain points I want you to know. First, I personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant in this matter,” Garland said. “Second, the Department does not take such a decision lightly. Where possible, it is standard practice to seek less intrusive means as an alternative to a search and to narrowly scope any search that is undertaken.”
“Third, let me address recent, unfounded attacks on the professionalism of the FBI and Justice Department agents and prosecutors. I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked,” he said in a thinly-veiled threat to conservative critics of the hyper-politicized federal law enforcement apparatus that he presides over.
Incredibly, Garland also talked about equal justice under the law.
“Upholding the rule of law means applying the law evenly, without fear or favor. Under my watch, that is precisely what the Justice Department is doing. All Americans are entitled to the evenhanded application of the law, to due process of the law, and to the presumption of innocence,” he said, in a laughable statement considering that under his tenure, concerned parents have been equated with domestic terrorists and Trump supporters have been persecuted and in some cases, hunted down like dogs.
Among those reacting to Garland’s statement was the raid’s target and public enemy number one of the swamp.
“My attorneys and representatives were cooperating fully, and very good relationships had been established,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The government could have had whatever they wanted, if we had it. They asked us to put an additional lock on a certain area – DONE!”
“Everything was fine, better than most previous presidents, and then, out of nowhere and with no warning, Mar-a-Lago was raided,” he added, “at 6:30 in the morning, by VERY large numbers of agents, and even ‘safecrackers.’ They got way ahead of themselves. Crazy!”

“I continue to ask, what happened to the 33 million pages of documents taken to Chicago by President Obama?” Trump wrote in another Truth Social post. “The Fake News Media refuses to talk about that. They want it CANCELED!”
Other reactions to Garland’s admission that the buck stops with him when it comes to what some have likened to a “Gestapo-style” raid.

McCarthy is right: AG Garland should preserve his documents and clear his calendar.

The biggest news in this presser was Merrick Garland said he personally approved this warrant request. So he’s helming up an investigation in to his boss’s biggest political rival and his potential future opponent. There’s no precedent for this ever occurring before in US history

Merrick Garland is just on a revenge trip over the Supreme Court seat it's not that complex
He must resign immediately

Just heard the AG Merrick Garland expressing total outrage that anyone would dare question the integrity of the FBI.
Save it. The two tier justice system that the corrupt DOJ and FBI represent is on full display for those who pay attention.

AG Garland personally approved the raid on President Trump.
This is nothing short of a coup.

Normally an FBI raid is for a VERY specific item located in a VERY specific place but in this case agents spent 9 hours looking around and didn’t find much of anything. Sounds like Liz Cheney’s dad told her Trump had weapons of mass destruction.

They will shut down schools and businesses for a year, and when you complain, *you’re* the terrorist.
They will hire 87k more IRS agents, and when you complain *you* get audited
They will send FBI to raid the opposition leader, and *you* don’t get to ask questions.

This just in: Heard from a trusted source that Lindsey Graham is preparing the ‘mother of all strongly worded letters’ in response to Attorney General Merrick Garland admitting to personally approving FBI’s raid on Donald Trump. Stay tuned…

Merrick Garland wants Americans to trust him and FBI agents. We’re supposed to believe this after they went after parents at school board meetings?

Taking an opposite but predictable approach, leftists practically wet themselves with glee, marveling at their hero Garland’s unabashed authoritarianism.
Merrick Garland is not fucking around.

One thing Donald Trump knows is real estate. So I wonder what he thinks of Merrick Garland moving in rent free inside his head.

It almost seems like all of the elected republicans talking shit about the fbi the past few days are dead silent after Merrick Garland’s presser.

Merrick Garland is a patriot who continues to act with propriety in an impossible position. 🇺🇸

Attorney General Merrick Garland is a silent killer. He’s been quietly building several criminal cases against Trump, without any leaks — and now he’s going for the jugular. A true master of his craft.

Three days of silence from Merrick Garland has proven to be a most effective political cudgel against the bloviating demagogic fools in the Repub Party, who were tripping over themselves to outdo each other on who could issue the most deranged statement to please the cult leader.

Merrick Garland is playing chess while Donald Trump is playing checkers.

In a divided America that is on the brink of an existential crisis, the lines couldn’t be clearer between those who still believe in a constitutional republic and those who would burn down to the ground every legal protection afforded by the nation’s founding document if that’s what it takes to destroy Trump and all who support him.
