A deranged, violent, and possibly inebriated man in Spain was pummeled by heroic bystanders when he grabbed a woman by the hair and horrifically attempted to drown her in a public fountain in broad daylight.
The incident was caught on video when an unidentified 52-year-old man who had been relaxing and cooling off in the fountain with the woman on Tuesday, suddenly appeared to try to brutally drown her in full view of bystanders, according to the Daily Mail.
The altercation seemed to be sparked when a passerby offered to take their photo while the two were in a fountain at a park in Valencia, Spain. The passerby allegedly took off with the man’s mobile phone when he handed it to him to take their picture. The man in the fountain, apparently being about three sheets to the wind, assumed the woman was in on the theft and tried to kill her for it, according to local media.
Before the man could finish the woman off, a person shouted “He’s going to kill her!” The crowd of people started begging him to let the woman go but he didn’t stop and seemed intent on murder. Someone called the police at that point.

Enter the first hero in a red shirt who jumped into the fountain and got the would-be killer in a stranglehold. As that was happening, the man cruelly yanked the woman’s head back and forth as he tried to break from her rescuer.
A second rescuer in a black t-shirt then joined the party and proceeded to wail on the guy with a brutal flurry of punches. The thug was intent on holding the woman’s head under water and refused to let go even though the rescuer was hammering him senseless.
The attacker finally released the woman’s hair when the second guy hit him with a roundhouse punch, knocking him down.
Both heroes pulled the attacker off the woman and then helped her escape. The battered woman staggered back to dry land in her underwear, dazed and breathless from the attack.
Within minutes paramedics were on the scene and took both the attacker and his victim to the hospital, according to the Daily Mail.
The attacker had a cut eyebrow and cheekbone and probably some spectacular bruising from the beating he took. It’s also possible that he had other injuries following the beat down he took in the fountain.
The woman was treated for the blows she received as the man tried to drown her.
When police finally arrived, the phone thief and the two heroic men who had rescued the woman were nowhere to be found. The officers gave some clothes to the woman following the assault so she could cover herself up since she only had a bra and panties on and they were wet.
After the attacker was treated, he was unsurprisingly booked by National Police for attempted murder.
