News of an FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate shocked the nation, but Democrats appear to be happier than a pig in mud, especially House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who was all smiles while discussing the matter on MSNBC.
On Tuesday morning, Pelosi took to “Morning Joe” to zing the former president and reiterate that she had no prior knowledge about the raid. She actually emphasized this point several times, while grinning like she’d just won the lottery.
While she was initially going on the program to discuss her controversial trip to Taiwan, which critics say is responsible for ratcheting up tensions with China, co-host Mika Brzezinski couldn’t resist letting the speaker gloat about the Trump raid.
“We would like very much to get your reaction, madame speaker, to the search of former President Trump’s estate, Mar-a-Lago down in Florida,” Brzezinski opened as Pelosi beamed like a kid on Christmas.
“All I know about that is what is in the public domain. I was surprised that it flashed on my phone last evening, so I don’t really have too much to say except that to have a visit like that, you need a warrant, to have a warrant and need justification. And that says that no one is above the law, not even a president or a former president of the United States,” she noted, emphasizing once again that she didn’t know any of this was going to happen.
“But all of this should be made known to us over time. But I have no knowledge of it. I do know that there has been chatter. What more than chatter about the presidential president’s documents and how they must be preserved for history. And let’s see what the justification was for the raid. I just don’t know. I think everyone was surprised by it,” she continued.
