Team player Liz Cheney says she’d ‘find it very difficult’ to support DeSantis in 2024

For those who may have harbored suspicions that Rep. Liz Cheney is not a team player when it comes to the electoral prospects of the Republican party, the embattled Wyoming congresswoman removed all doubt by declining to support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis if he and not former President Donald J. Trump is the 2024 GOP nominee.

The public face of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s one-sided political circus that it the January 6 commission told the New York Times that she would “would find it very difficult” to support the Sunshine State Republican – a rising rock star -if he emerges from the primaries as the choice who could prevent another disastrous term for Joe Biden – or even worse, Gavin Newsom – in two years, once again putting her own gigantic ego before both party loyalty as well as what is best for America.

Cheney, who is the last great hope of the discredited Bush-McCain-Romney establishment has positioned herself as the last defender of the old spoils system from Trump and other America First conservatives who rose out of discontent with the ongoing failures to stand up to Democrats, and has herself teased a 2024 presidential run even if, as many expect, she loses the upcoming GOP primary in her home state.

Cheney told The New York Times, “I think that Ron DeSantis has lined himself up almost entirely with Donald Trump, and I think that’s very dangerous,” even in the face of a relentless and totally unprincipled left that seeks to burn down the nation’s institutions in its pursuit of permanent political power by any means necessary.

The 56-year-old heroine of the so-called Resistance diagnosed her party as being “very sick” and that it “is continuing to drive itself in a ditch and I think it’s going to take several cycles if it can be healed.”

In her interview with the outlet which took place during a dinner party, Cheney also downplayed speculation that she would change parties, possibly another indication that she will mount a primary challenge to a Republican better suited at winning the general election even it if allow Democrats to retain control of the presidency.

“I’m a Republican,” she said.

Twitter users responded to Cheney’s dissing of DeSantis.

In a sign of how badly Cheney’s personal jihad that put her firmly into the Democrat camp has cost her politically, her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney lashed out at Trump.

“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” the 81-year-old career politician and ex-veep said in an ad. “He is a coward. A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters. He lost his election and he lost big. I know it, he knows it and deep down I think most Republicans know it.”

In another interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Cheney said that she is currently focused on the upcoming Wyoming primary, saying, “I am working hard to earn every single vote.”

“Given the choice between maintaining my seat in the House of Representatives on the one hand or ensuring the survival of our constitutional republic and ensuring the American people know the truth about Donald Trump, I will choose the Constitution and the truth every day of the week and twice on Sunday,” the malicious actor added.

Rep. Cheney has a date with destiny on August 16, a day that will go a long way in deciding her future as a member of the Republican Party.
