Triggered by chummy golf outing, bitter NYT reporter throws wild accusations at Tucker

New York Times reporter Jeremy Peters unsurprisingly smeared Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Newsmax, claiming that he trashes former President Trump in private and doesn’t think very much of his audience.

Appearing on Newsmax host Eric Boling’s show “The Balance” Monday, Peters asserted that he had the inside track on Carlson and knew what was really going on behind the scenes with him. It’s a claim he has made before and there has never been any solid proof that his assertions are even remotely true.

What is surprising is that Bolling, who is considered a conservative, gave the New York Times author a platform to smear Republicans, Trump, and Carlson while hawking his latest book “Insurgency: How Republicans Lost Their Party and Got Everything They Ever Wanted.” It was released in February. The title alone is fantasy revisionism at its worst.

Peters asserts that Carlson holds Trump in contempt but is using him to gain support and viewers. It appears that only those on the left make that accusation and do so repeatedly, desperately hoping that saying it often enough will make it true.

Bolling pointed out that Carlson attended Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf club over the weekend. He was photographed smiling and laughing with the former president and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) A leftist meltdown ensued.

“I saw a lot of pictures floating around the Internet of Trump and Tucker Carlson kind of yucking it up a little bit in the Trump box,” Bolling noted.

He then asked Peters why he felt Carlson would even bother being seen with Trump, despite the author’s charge that the Fox News host doesn’t like him.

“I think you know as well as I do that Tucker, in private, what he says about Trump is very different than what he says about Trump in public, and it benefits him to be seen having photos taken with Trump at the golf course and everything. I would not be surprised at all to see Tucker… I quote him in my book, he said ‘I am voting for Kanye West,'” Peters commented, evidently deliberately misinterpreting the part where that was almost certainly a claim made in jest.

“This is in 2020 so… he didn’t vote for Trump, as far as we know. I mean, I don’t know, I wasn’t there with him in the ballot box, but we know that Tucker Carlson is one of these people who benefit from having the Trump audience on his side, but thinks very little of the people who make up that audience,” he said, slandering Carlson.

Unbelievably, Bolling seemed to think Tucker Carlson has presidential ambitions and laughably asserted that if he runs he’ll need Trump voters to win.

“I think there are a lot of people, Eric, who snicker behind Trump’s back, who say that they support him publicly and they like his ideas, and they like him,” Peters continued, now denigrating the former president. “But privately, it’s a different story, and that to me is the ultimate fallacy of the conservative media.”

Like so many on the left, Peters seeks to convince Americans that Trump is despised and looked down upon. Unfortunately for the New York Times author and other Democrats, evidence suggests exactly the opposite.
