One America News Network may have been largely chased off of the airwaves but host Chanel Rion went out with guns blazing before Verizon officially pulled the plug, taking a flamethrower to women’s basketball star Brittney Griner who has been imprisoned in Russia since a colossal error in judgment when she was busted trying to bring an illegal substance into the country.
Griner, a two-time Olympic gold medalist who was a seven-time All-Star for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury failed to comprehend that drug laws are far stricter in nations outside of the U.S. when she was taken into custody at Moscow’s airport in February mere weeks before President Vladimir Putin ordered his tanks into Ukraine, compounding her problem with diplomatic relations entering a chilly stage unseen since the dark days of the Cold War.
While leftists wailed about the injustice of it all, others were quick to point out that Griner didn’t exactly hold favorable views of America – something that may have since changed – and refused to stand during the playing of the national anthem before games.
Rion’s blistering commentary on Griner, whom she called “an America hating lesbian pothead,” came as the Biden regime is in the process of dickering with the Kremlin over a prisoner swap that would exchange the notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout who has been dubbed the Merchant of Death for the tattooed anti-American hoopster who by virtue of being black and gay has become an upper echelon victim whose freedom is a top priority for leftists all the way up to the White House.
“Break out the hashtags! Free Brittney! Make a deal!” Rion said, “Recall, Brittney Griner protested the American flag and anthem by telling the WNBA these hate symbols had no place in the WNBA. Oh, yeah. Griner is one of theirs, alright.”

“So here’s what the geniuses at the Biden State Department drummed up: a trade,” Rion said. “A convicted Russian arms dealer, aka Merchant of Death, in exchange for an America-hating lesbian pothead.”
“Oh, and as a bonus, throw in that Marine, too,” she added.
In addition to Griner, whose pot-laced vape pens put her in violation of Russian drug laws, former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan who has been imprisoned since 2018 was also reported as being part of the trade package being dangled for Bout.
“How do you think the Russians are seeing this?” Rion asked. “That the Biden administration leaped into action for a woman who would spit on our flag and anthem but dragged its feet for a Marine who would die for that same flag and anthem, and they see nothing wrong with this? They say America is back? Pure delusion and denial.”
Rion isn’t the only one who criticized freeing the dangerous Russian villain Bout to secure the release of Griner, as former President Donald J. Trump also expressed his opinion that the lopsided trade favoring Putin’s regime for a privileged ingrate whose dilemma is solely her own fault.
“She went in there loaded up with drugs into a hostile territory where they’re very vigilant about drugs,” Trump told nationally syndicated radio hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton during a weekend interview at his Bedminster, NJ golf resort.
“They don’t like drugs. And she got caught. And now we’re supposed to get her out — and she makes, you know, a lot of money, I guess. But we’re supposed to get her out for an absolute killer, and one of the biggest arms dealers in the world. Killed many Americans. Killed many people,” the former and perhaps future POTUS said.

“He’s gonna get a ‘free card.’ And we’re gonna get her. She knew — you don’t go in there loaded up with drugs. And she admitted it. I assume she admitted it without too much force because it is what it is. And it certainly doesn’t seem like a very good trade, does it?” Trump asked.
