In a social media message, former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is accusing the identity politics-obsessed Biden administration of promoting child abuse through a drug treatment protocol.
The Hawaii Democrat who endorsed Bernie Sanders for president in 2016 and ran for the job herself in 2020 was apparently alluding to a recent alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that puberty blocker use could lead to brain swelling symptoms, which include blindness.
These substances, known as gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, will reportedly now contain warning labels.
On Sunday, Gabbard posted a video to her 1.5 million Twitter followers, which is embedded above, in which she seemed to be commenting on this situation:
“The FDA made a disturbing, but not at all surprising, announcement just a few days ago about children’s health. Now, if you haven’t heard about it, or if you missed it, it’s because the mainstream media and the Biden-Harris administration have been completely silent on it, and this warning that the FDA issued is basically saying that puberty blockers can cause serious health risks for our kids,” Gabbard asserted.
She continued: “Unfortunately, at almost the exact same time the FDA issued this warning, Biden-Harris administration officials were making public statements actively promoting the use of puberty blockers and irreversible surgeries for kids. Now, let’s be clear: This administration is dangerously promoting child abuse.”
Through various forms of punditry, the pro-free-speech Gabbard — a Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserves who vigorously opposes the neocon and neolib endless-war agenda — has increasingly moved in the populist direction, including on social issues, and in so doing, has continued to dissent from her political party’s far-left dogma.
For example, she supported Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law and also implied that it might not go far enough.
She has also spoken out about how Democrats have weaponized the legal system against their political opponents such as Steve Bannon while giving Deep State actors who lied to Congress a pass.
In a tweet earlier this month, Gabbard wrote that “Denying the biological differences between men and women not only threatens women’s rights, it threatens our safety.”

Whether her outspokenness is an exemplar of aspirations for elective office (and for what party) that she still might harbor remains to be seen.
In a document called “Gender-Affirming Care and Young People,” the Office of Population Affairs in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) explains that gender-affirming care, which it defines as a form of healthcare, “consists of an array of services that may include medical, surgical, mental health, and non-medical services for transgender and nonbinary people” and that “early gender-affirming care is crucial to overall health and well-being.”
Treatment options include puberty blocking hormones, the effects for which the agency claims are reversible.

In another context that may or not be applicable, Fox News host Tucker Carlson has recently opined that “there is always an inverse relationship between the slogan and the reality, so the more they tell you ‘trust the science,’ the more they become intent on forcing you to ‘ignore’ the science.”
