Politico carries water for Biden, claims that GDP report on potential recession is ‘possibly inaccurate’

President Joe Biden and his minions have spent days preparing for Thursday’s highly anticipated release of the latest economic figures that are expected to show that the country has officially entered a recession by working overtime to redefine what the term means.

One of the media outlets that has consistently carried water for Biden and his fellow Democrats has come out in advance of the quarterly GDP report with Politico getting out in front of the possible bad news by claiming that the figures may not be accurate, bolstering efforts by the regime and its mouthpieces to gaslight Americans into questioning reality just over three months before the midterm elections that are crucial for the party’s extreme agenda.

“Set your alarms: Tomorrow we get the first, possibly inaccurate and certain to be revised reading of U.S. economic performance in the second quarter of this deeply weird economic year — one metric to measure if we’re in a recession,” Politico wrote in a Wednesday tweet in advance of the numbers which are scheduled to be revealed at 8:30 ET on Thursday morning.

In the article linked to the tweet, Politico’s Chief Economic Correspondent Ben White writes, “We tease. But just a bit. Because it is actually a big deal whether the reading shows the economy, as measured by gross domestic product, grew by a touch or declined by a hair in the second quarter. If it’s the latter, which many but certainly not all economists expect, it would be the second straight quarter of shrinking GDP. That’s one, though not the only definition of, (cue scary music) RECESSION!

According to White, “This is where it gets a bit confusing for the non-econ-obsessed, so hang with me until we get to the politics. Because technically the White House would be correct. Two declines in a row is one classic hallmark of recession. But as I’ve noted in this space before, there is no official definition of recession in the U.S. beyond a broad decline in economic activity spread over time.”

“The official arbiters at the National Bureau of Economic Research won’t make a call either way for a while. And by many other measures, including job creation, final consumer demand and gross domestic income (among other things), this does not look like any kind of recession we’ve had before,” he added.

“The White House is pretty obviously right that even two quarters of shrinking GDP would not show the economy is currently in recession,” White wrote in another tweet. “Getting people to understand that and the nuances of our strange, vexing, economic moment is just really hard. By me.”

Twitter users reacted to the outlet’s brazen gaslighting.

White was also caught red-handed by an astute observer who pointed out that he has had a sudden change of heart about what a recession means since June.

The one kernel of truth in the Politico story is that an official recession will be seriously damaging to Democrat hopes of retaining one-party control over the political system. “Still, it’s a huge deal politically. Republicans are salivating at the opportunity to take a negative number, cast aside any of the wonky nuances, and declare the ‘Biden Recession’ well underway. Plenty of news outlets may treat it that way as well.”

“That would be horrible news for the White House and Democratic candidates up and down the midterm ballot. They already face brutal headwinds given Biden’s dismal overall numbers and his historically low approval rating on the economy. Having to go on the stump and explain why this isn’t technically a recession is the kind of defensive crouch no candidate wants to take. If you are explaining, as the saying goes, you are losing,” White wrote.

No administration in the nation’s history has engaged in churning out such blatant propaganda to the extent that the Biden regime has, it is truly Soviet-level and likely serves as an inspiration to leaders of totalitarian governments worldwide.
