After a former U.S. Marine was arrested for falsifying statements to obtain a firearm, details have emerged about his alleged connection to a neo-Nazi group, Rapekrieg.
Matthew Belanger served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 2019 until May 2021 when he was discharged under “Other Than Honorable Conditions for Misconduct (Serious Offense), specifically for dissident/extremist activity, on or about May 20, 2021.” Now, his alleged extremist connections have deemed him a flight risk, according to court documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii.
Belanger pleaded not guilty at his arraignment hearing Monday to firearms charges where he was said to have, in one case, used an unnamed New York police officer to purchase a PTR91 assault rifle while he was stationed in Hawaii, according to Rolling Stone. He also enlisted the aid of that officer to purchase a Luger, the FBI claimed.
As serious as the weapons charges are against Belanger, who faces a maximum of 20 years imprisonment if convicted of his three offenses, the third being conspiracy for another purchase, it was his background that led to his removal from the armed forces that truly raised eyebrows.
“In particular, substantial evidence demonstrates that defendant has planned to attack with firearms and Molotov cocktails, i.e., homemade explosives, a synagogue in his home state of New York, engaged in live exercises to practice such an attack, and made plans to engage in widespread homicide and sexual assault to decrease the number of minority residents in the United States,” the court filing laid out.
It further detailed that Belanger’s connections with the extremist group Rapekrieg, whose reported goal was to bring down the “Zionist Order of Governments” which they claim is an organization of Jews that control the world, had begun before his enlistment with the military and that, to further their white supremacist agenda, they intended the “rape of white women to increase the production of white children in furtherance of [Rapekrieg’s] goal of creating a white ethno-state through accelerationist means.”
The allegations leveled against Belanger came after an FBI investigation led to a raid of his barracks in Oct. 2020 where the “FBI located approximately 1,950 images, videos and documents related to white power groups, Nazi literature, brutality towards the Jewish community, brutality towards women, rape, previous mass murderers such as Dylan Roof, firearms, body armor, instructional documents on how to build explosives and/or illegal firearms, violent uncensored executions and/or rape, and other disturbing content.”
“All items reviewed spanned from approximately 2016 to October 2020 and show a pattern of progression towards more extreme, graphic, and violent content,” the documents asserted.
Some of the disturbing content included in Rapekrieg’s reported manifesto stated, “If you have any doubts about being able to pull the trigger on a jewish child, then you are not mentally prepared for the level of violence that first-world collapses will bring,” and “For every white child beaten, white man stabbed, white family gunned down, that malice is transferred to us tenfold. The Rape ideology seeks to channel this bottled enmity and release it upon our enemies in a manner so boundless and excruciating that nonwhites will develop an entire culture of fear around the white man for the rest of time.”
Rapekrieg was said to have “overlapping beliefs and membership with other neo-Nazi groups such as ‘Rapewaffen’ and ‘Atomwaffen'” and Rolling Stone detailed that those groups had been charged with federal firearms offenses and were linked to at least one murder.
Dates for Balenger’s pending trial were not listed and the Justice Department, Marine Corps and Belanger’s attorneys did not respond to media requests for comment.
