Gingrich shreds uber-woke Pa. Senate candidate who ditched Old Glory for marijuana flag: ‘He’s kind of nuts’

Newt Gingrich, the outspoken former Speaker of the House, had some interesting things to say about Democratic Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman when speaking at the America First Promise Luncheon recently.

Specifically, Gingrich took issue with Fetterman’s prominent display of an assortment of flags demonstrating his loyalty to a variety of left-wing causes. During his speech, Gingrich noted that Fetterman, who is the current lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania, had replaced the American flag with “the marijuana flag and the gay pride flag”—signaling where his true loyalties lie.

“The idea that the next time a soldier goes in to rescue somebody, instead of showing them the American flag patch, they’re going to show them the marijuana patch, tells you as much about wokeness as you need to know,” Gingrich said in his speech.

Fetterman has displayed the flags outside his office in a form of lazy virtue-signaling that has become all too common these days, claiming that he is defying a law prohibiting the display of flags representing personal left-wing causes in a place of honor alongside the American flag. Gingrich has previously warned of Fetterman’s unfettered socialist views, and predicted that he will lose his Senate bid.

During his speech at the America First Promise Luncheon, Gingrich spelled out in no uncertain terms the problem with Fetterman and the Democratic Party he represents.

“I think that Fetterman has to carry the burden first of all, of being Fetterman, who is kind of nuts,” Gingrich said.

“Which in the Democratic Party means that he is sort of a centrist. Second, he has to carry the burden of an enormous murder rate and crime rate in Philadelphia. And third, he has to carry the burden of a very anti-energy policy in western Pennsylvania, which is the fourth largest producer of energy in the United States. And then in the middle of the state which is a very conservative area.”

“He’s got to carry the burden of just being himself,” Gingrich added, “so I’m going to go out on a limb here…we will win the Pennsylvania senate race, we will win it by a surprising margin, and for the foreseeable future, the marijuana flag will not fly at the U.S. Capitol. I know it’s bold.”

There’s been a disturbing trend under the Biden administration to fly a host of different flags, including the Black Lives Matter flag and the Pride banner, at U.S. embassies around the world, which, as Gingrich pointed out, tells you everything you need to know about wokeness.

Allegiance to the American flag is no longer enough; it’s necessary to signal allegiance to left-wing ideologies as well.
