DeSantis says communist Chinese snapping up property in Florida is ‘a huge problem’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is ringing alarm bells over the communist Chinese purchasing lots of land in his state, declaring he doesn’t think they should be allowed to do it.

He appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” on Friday and noted that he signed legislation to slow down the “undue influence from rogue states” and others such as the Chinese Communist Party.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham reported on the alarm growing in the United States over China buying real estate here. Of special concern are farmland and residential areas in the Plains and in states such as Florida.

“I don’t think they should be able to do it,” DeSantis bluntly commented. “I think the problem is these companies have ties to the CCP, and it’s not always apparent on the face of whatever a company is doing — but I think it’s a huge problem.”

The governor commented that Tallahassee has banned Chinese “Confucius Institutes,” which allow CCP influence and propaganda into colleges and universities.

“We’re also probably going to do legislation next legislative session about our pension investments, with things that may be linked to the CCP. We don’t necessarily have a lot of it, but we want to make sure that we’re cutting ties so that we’re not funding our number-one adversary,” he told Ingraham.

The interview also covered the Jan. 6 hearings and DeSantis did not hold back on that either. He claims they are a distraction meant to “divert from Biden’s problems.” He also says they are an admission that Democrats have let Americans down on “bread-and-butter issues,” so they have to find something that takes the spotlight off their failures.

“What they want to do is make the election about something other than what are the top concerns for the American people. It’s not going to work. It may help them fundraise with their left-wing base, but the American people aren’t going to be diverted,” DeSantis astutely predicted.

The Florida governor evidently has little use for Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) who serve on the Jan. 6 select committee. He certainly has no respect for either one of them and made that clear on Ingraham’s show.

DeSantis went on to nail HHS official Rachel Levine, who oversaw COVID lockdowns in Pennsylvania before being tapped as an admiral in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service under President Biden. Levine is transgender.

Ingraham alluded to Levine speaking out in the Miami Herald concerning the importance of “gender-affirming care” for children and young adults.

DeSantis called the phrase a “euphemism” for forcing sex changes on individuals. He stated that there is “no evidence that this is something that’s effective medical care.”

“We know that people that do this when their kids have huge problems going on, so we believe that this is not appropriate in the state of Florida. We don’t think a doctor should get a license if they’re doing it,” he commented. DeSantis also remarked that physicians performing the surgeries approved and promoted by Levine should be sued by patients who develop problems later in life.

The popular conservative stated that the policies of Democratic leaders such as Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and California Gov. Gavin Newsom are the reason that Florida is growing while those states are “hemorrhaging people.”

Both Pritzker and Newsom may allegedly be vying for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2024. DeSantis is seen as a possibility for the Republican nomination but is far more likely to defer to his friend, former President Trump. He might be Trump’s pick as a VP for the ticket which would make the duo almost unstoppable.

“If you look at California, they never lost population from the founding of the state until this current governor has been in office. Now they’re hemorrhaging people. Illinois is hemorrhaging people. New York and their tax bases are getting narrower and people are bringing wealth to Florida and opportunities to Florida,” he said.

“[H]ere’s the thing. It is a result of us having good policies, but also them driving people away with their terrible policies,” the governor continued.

DeSantis also noted that the largest cities in Illinois and California, Chicago and Los Angeles, are among the least safe cities in the United States due to radically liberal district attorneys and leftist policies.
