Team Trump hits back at latest ‘horrified’ witness in ‘sham’ January 6 hearings: ‘She posted this?’

In what was mercifully the final installment of the Jan. 6 Committee’s big summer show, the handpicked panel attempted, via a former Trump White House spokesperson, to paint a picture of a President Donald Trump who, for 187 minutes, couldn’t be bothered to do anything about the growing unrest at the Capitol — a claim Trump and his Save America PAC were quick to respond to on social media.

To hear the handpicked committee tell the tale, White House staff and advisors were begging Trump to call for an immediate end to the “mob violence,” as, for two-and-a-half hours, Trump sat in the dining room watching TV.

“He could not be moved to rise from his dining room table and walk the few steps down to the White House hallway into the press briefing room, where cameras were anxiously and desperately waiting to carry his message to the armed and violent mob savagely beating and killing law enforcement officers,” said committee chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.).

“There was no official record of what President Trump did while in the dining room,” committee member Rep. Elaine Lauria (D-Va.) added ominously.

 

Former Trump White House spokesperson Sarah Matthews testified that former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told her that the president wasn’t keen on including any version of the word “peace” in the tweet he “begrudgingly” tweeted at 2:38 p.m., urging his supporters at the Capitol to “Stay peaceful,” according to the New York Post.

“Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!” Trump tweeted not long before Twitter locked his account and prevented the president from tweeting anything to anyone about anything.

“[McEnany] looked directly at me and in a hushed tone shared with me that the president did not want to include any sort of mention of peace in that tweet, and that it took some convincing on their part,” Matthews recounted. “And she said that there was a back and forth going over different phrases to find something that he was comfortable with. And it wasn’t until Ivanka Trump suggested the phrase ‘stay peaceful’ that he finally agreed to include it.”

If true, noted Trump’s Save America PAC, Matthews had a funny way of showing her outrage.

“The sham J6 committee’s witness tonight was apparently so horrified by January 6th that she posted this on January 20th?” the PAC asked.

Quote-tweeted was a post from Matthews, two weeks after the Capitol events, in which she gushed, “Thank you President Trump and Vice President Pence for your service to the American people. It was the greatest honor and privilege of my life to serve this great nation.”

Over on Truth Social, Trump doubled-down for the hundredth time on his insistence that the election was rigged and speculated on what might have been.

“Mike Pence told me, and everybody else, there was nothing he could do about the Electoral Vote Count — it was etched in stone,” the former President wrote. “But if so, how come the Democrats and RINOs are working so hard to make sure there is nothing a VP can do.”

 

“This was a major event, because everybody ganged up and said that Mike had no choice, he could not send the slates back to the States (which is all I suggested he do) for possible retabulation and correction based on largescale Voter Fraud and Irregularities,” he continued.

“This may have proven to be an Election-changing event, so we would have no inflation, inexpensive gasoline, be energy dominant, have no war or largescale death with Russia and Ukraine (this conflict never would have happened), would have left Afghanistan on same timetable, but with dignity and strength, and would have kept Bagram Air Base, not had dead soldiers, taken out all American hostages, and would not have given the Taliban $85 billion worth of first-class military equipment,” Trump stated.

“What a difference it would have made if the State Legislatures had another crack at looking at all of the Fraud, Abuse, and Irregularities that have been found,” he said. “Our Country would have been a different place!”
