Antifa summer camp for kids reportedly trains little cop-hating, BLM-chanting, social justice warriors

Forget about Kumbaya and beaded lanyards, a new summer camp in Portland aims to teach young kids how to protest white supremacy and hate cops, courtesy of Antifa.

Don’t be fooled by the innocuous name of the camp — “Budding Roses.”

It’s a reference to the name of the project’s organizers, the Black Rose Anarchist Foundation (BRRN), which, according to their website, “is a political organization founded in 2014 which shares a common set of politics and a shared strategic vision of building popular power in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and schools towards the goal of libertarian socialism.”

Budding Roses promises to provide third- through ninth-graders with “a free, safe and empowering space for East Portland youth to learn, express themselves, and engage critically with the social justice issues that impact them.”

According to BRRN, the project was “inspired by global examples of mutual aid” like “the Black Panther’s Free Breakfast Programs.”

Among the offerings of downloadable curriculum and resources is a “Black Lives Matter at School” coloring book, a study on the “Prison Industrial Complex” from a group called Critical Resistance that challenges “the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe,” and DIY stencils and block prints “for artists with a message.”

And gone are campfire classics like “Michael Row Your Boat Ashore” and “Home on the Range.”

Attending children will learn Black Lives Matter (BLM) chants celebrating putting “killer cops in jail” and how to “reflect on white supremacy,” according to a report from Townhall.

In fact, there’s a whole section of the Budding Roses website dedicated to the question of “What is Police Abolition.”

And don’t worry about sack races or tugs of war.  The little ones will instead be learning how to cope with tear gas.

“Your child, if they go to this Antifa camp, will be taught how to be a little activist,” radio host Ari Hoffman told Fox News. “They’ll be taught how to deal with tear gas, how to protest. That’s what these parents are sending their kids to.”

On Twitter, BRRN whined that “recent media scrutiny has put a right-wing target on Budding Roses, a free summer camp in Portland, OR.”

“While Budding Roses is now a project independent of our organization, we’re supportive of the work that they do.”

BRRN included a link to Budding Roses’ GoFundMe page, which has so far raised just over $3,000 of its $5,000 goal.

“Our camp activities talk about racism, gentrification, student activism, gender, climate change, and mental health — issues that Portland youth are already engaging with,” the organizers say.

“We seek to help youth cultivate the necessary tools to be active community members through experiences of collective decision-making and provide opportunities to lead and facilitate through direct involvement in democratic education.”
